I stayed at Playa del Karma hotel together with my boyfriend 6 nights in the beginning of June. The place is great and we really enjoyed our stay. The staff is friendly and definitely gave us a personal service, which was much appreciated since it's not that common these days.

The garden with the beautiful pool was lovely, everything else than a typical hotel garden. The continental breakfast is enough (great that it was included in the price), but if you are hungry the chef Beppe makes delicious pancakes with natural yoghurt and fruit etc. for a reasonable price.

There's a travelling agency - Karma Trails (run by Antonello) - in the hotel, which is very convenient. We booked a day trip to one of the seven new world wonders - Chichén Itzá - to a good price. This is worth the effort despite the tourist crowds, if you're a least bit interested in history. During the same trip we also visited "el gran cenote" (sinkhole)! Cool :)

The hotel offers sun chairs at Mamita's Beach Club at Calle 28. Mamita's was nice - no sea weed (clear water). Go there!

Many thanks to the entire staff who made our stay rememberable! This hotel is something different in a very positive way.

Ps. The dog seems to be back, but we only heard him barking a couple of times at bad weather ;)

It is nicely located just a couple of blocks away from Avenida 5, where you don't get the noise and traffic but is a short enough walk to all of the action. In between Cancun, Cozumel and Tulum, so you are centrally located to easily see the sites.

Room and landscape were clean and charming. And no, the heavy rains do not leak through the palapa roof! Good air conditioning, complemented with a ceiling fan. Fill your water bottles with drinking water at the cooler in the front office. Nicely stocked refrigerator in room, where there is a nominal charge for items. Free ten minutes of internet access at the computer in the front office--pay for additional minutes. Continental breakfast (free) was sufficient, but the omelettes were awesome, as well as the service. And as expected, they provided a hair dryer at my request.

Sufficient street parking during the evening. Really close to Wal-Mart, which takes US dollars for your purchase and gives you pesos for change at a very decent rate of exchange.

I highly recommend Hotel Playa del Karma!

I will not waste time by telling you what all the other reviewers told you. Let me just say that they were right!!! It was a lovely experience. I smile every time I think of the hotel and its staff. I was tired by the time I got to Playa del Carmen since I had been in Mexico for 6 days already. I did not expect much, but got the best surprise I have had in a long time. I really needed the spiritual peace I found at this hotel. They really do offer "personal" service. I was only sad when I had to leave!!! But you can bet that I will go back. For sure.

We turned up off the street following a long and tiring bus ride and were greeted in the most friendly way by Mario, one of the staff at Playa del Karma.
Overall, our experience here was great; the hotel is very near the bustle of the main tourist drag in Playa del Karma, but remains quiet and tranquil. It has a lovely pool, which is perfect for chilling in (literally) after a day at the beach and the staff also make excellent breakfasts.
We loved our stay here and would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and relatives.
