“so good im coming back next month!!”

Weary Traveler Hostel

5 of 5 stars
fort wayne in
Jan 22, 2007

i was greatly impressed with all the weary traveler had to offer..first a bed, yea! true i had to share with my 2 friends and 3 others, but the room was clean and the decor simple..it was so peacefull in the mornings with a delicious breakfast..then a free bus ride to and from the beach!! they had a bar right there, and hammocks to lay in and enjoy the breeze..and at night we sat around and barbaqued and told stories of where we were from and what we did that day..i felt safe when i slept..and absoultly loved it..i am going back next month, my friends are going to honduras first, but i told them i only wanted to go to the weary traveler..hospitality to the max..like i said greatly impressed..rhonda elmes

“dirty / expensive”

I have to agree with the previous two reviews. The rooms/beds/toilets/showers in this place are DIRTY and it is way too expensive. To avoid the 500 pesos deposit (yes, that is way exagerated) you can also give your ID (but don't do it, on check-out they forgot to give it back to me; don't ever give away your ID when traveling btw!).
I went to this place as it got a reasonably good review from my guidebook, but since my guidebook was 5 years old, I can only assume the place has changed drastically (for the worse) over the years. This is also reflected on this site (older reviews are good, newer reviews are bad). My recommendation: avoid this place!

    • Disliked — dirty, expensive, bad location (not near beach, not near historical site)

“One of the worst places I have stayed”

Weary Traveler Hostel

I arrived in Tulum too late to get to a beach cabana so stayed here. It is the worst place I have stayed at in several years. It cost 120 pesos and the rooms were dirty, the fans (shared between six beds) didn't work, the toilet was located in the room, seperated by a thin screen and stank. I was badly bitten by bed bugs. In a word, disgusting. How this place gets good reports in the guide books, god only knows! There is a cleaner, cheaper place a couple of doors down, but you have to speak spanish to get a room as they don't have english.

“Ok but No Sleep”

Weary Traveler Hostel

3 of 5 stars

This hostel is an interesting place to stay but it is impossible to get any sleep. The rooms are extremely hot and the bunks are very loud and creek if anyone moves the whole room will wake up.

The rooms consist of 3 double bunks (6 beds) with a shower and toilet for each room.

The place features free breakfast in the morning (coffee, eggs, cereal, or pancakes) which you have to make yourself. They have 2 computers for Internet usage. They sell beer.

You will meet a lot of travelers at this hostel but do not expect to sleep well.
