We were at Parayso in late July. The owner emailed me and asked me to do a review. It’s actually pretty hard to rate it on a scale of 1 to 5. Right now, I’d have to give it a “meh.” The basic ingredients were there for comfort and relaxation during the hot summer months. The air conditioning worked, the beach was nice and the pool was clean. We used the wifi, which was a convenience, albeit an unpredictable one. We really wanted to like Parayso, and we were hoping it might be a place that we would want to return to. But I have to say that while the experience was not awful it was also not so great. I might even say vaguely depressing. After the pleasant email exchanges during the reservation process it did not feel warm and friendly while we were there (different people). They seemed disorganized (e.g., lost our reservation) and were hard to find if we needed to ask a question. Service was definitely not their specialty, and we are not needy guests. The room was kind of shabby, and ants were a problem. The bathroom was actually fairly dismal. It was cramped, a bit dingy and the floor got all wet when we showered. Overall, we were disappointed after studying their website, which implied much more. There were quite a number of things featured on the website before we went that were not actually available when we stayed. For example, despite what had been advertised on their website, they weren’t serving dinner when we were there, our room didn’t have tv, there was no room safe, etc. These seem to be absent now from their newly updated website. Oh well. If your main concern is ac you might like it just fine. But with so many other options, I would give it a miss if I had a do-over. Maybe over time the hotel will improve (it seems like they have lots of plans), but I think they will need to improve a *lot* if they are going to raise their rates next year.
