The bloom is off. Villa Jacaranda is in desperate need of a facelift.
There is no valet parking. While I was double-parked in the street at the entrance, the desk clerk was more concerned about handing over guidebooks to San Miguel de Allende than having someone tend to my vehicle.
The wireless Internet in the common areas, as promised, didn't exist.
The room was tiny, the bathroom carved out of what might've been a closet, barely larger than your average airline toilet. The amenities were substandard -- definitely not the quality expected for a $165/night room.
The common areas looked tired. Wires and pipes were exposed underneath the dying ivy, the patio furniture dirty, and even the help had desperate dispositions. The help acted just as bored and indifferent as the surroundings.
