“Good Value in town”

El Encanto Inn

4 of 5 stars
San Francisco
Feb 19, 2008

We booked this hotel for a two night stay in town before heading to Cabo San Lucas for a week. The main hotel was charming with a lovely bouganvilla planted courtyard & pool. The pool was cold (maybe not heated?) so while my two kids (10 & 7) went in briefly, my husband and I did not. We had a room across the street and although the room itself was nice (Room 107 I think, at the very end of the walkway, first level), this section was definitely not as nice as the poolside one & if I went back I would definitely go poolside. Also from our room as we tried to sleep, we could hear dogs barking both nights - maybe a building or so away? Our room itself was very spacious, with a king (I think it was a king) bed on the top level & a sofa/bed below. There were also a kitchenette & dining table. On the kitchenette, we had a toaster oven and we would have preferred a microwave which I think some of the other units may have had. So if you want the microwave over the toaster oven you might have to ask. What else? It was an easy walk into town from the hotel & we always felt safe.

“It's pretty good”

El Encanto Inn

4 of 5 stars
paradise, ca
Jan 28, 2008

We stayed in Oct and then my husband was stranded in San Jose in Dec. and showed up on their doorstep looking for a room. They treated him great, when we were there for business in Oct., it was okay, we got an inexpensive room which was down the street from their main lobby, but for the price, we couldn't complain. The room was clean, the staff nice and accomodating, we met Blanca and she was very nice and accomodating to us. We were even thinking of renting a small room from her around the corner on a month to month base. It's not a 5 star place, but the beds were something you could sleep in, I felt safe there, the t.v. had many channels and the internet service out by the pool worked just fine. I'm leaving within two days for business and I can't find a better place to stay at, so I'm going to book there again. We enjoyed walking to downtown and the restraruants from there and there was parking, you just have to walk.

“No need to return”

El Encanto Inn

Jan 22, 2008

The on-line photographs are attractive, but the reality is something else.

Personnel on duty are not the least bit helpful and in fact were rude. The "heated" pool was ice cold and too filthy to attempt to swim in. The "pool suite" was simply one small room and not too clean at that. All in all, a great disappointment.

We will not be back next year

“Don't Ever Stay Here!!”

El Encanto Inn

Dec 8, 2007
4/4 found this review helpful

This place is run by a crook - I have never dealt with such a inept, thieving hotel manager/owner as Blanca. I have spent the last 6 months since my stay getting double charges refunded from my credit card company. If you are thinking of staying here, please think again. Look at all the other people on here who have had problems with this hotel and this woman. There is nothing good about this hotel and if you want to pay double for your room then go ahead and stay here but don't say you weren't warned by me and the other people on this site who have had similar problems!!

“Pool area gorgeous, guest room so so”

The pictures on the website look fantastic and in the main they are a true reflection. The pool area, gardens and chapel are beautiful. However I do not recommend that you upgrtade to a garden suite expecting a view of a garden. These rooms surround a pretty courtyard garden but the view from the patio (if you manage to open the door and step through the builders rubble on the patio) is of local shacks and barking dogs. We were here for a week and regretted it. Stay in a pool suite, much nicer view. We were here in January, whilst the large airy rooms with ceramic floors are probably great in the summer months in the Winter months it is cold. We spent an afternoon trying to buy a heater (the rooms are airconditioned but not heated). We wouldn't stay here again.
