“Great spot to relax”

Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort

I'm just back from a 6 night stay at the Hilton Los Cabos. The resort is very nicely laid out and easy to get around. The service is exceptional, very attentive staff. One example, when I asked the bar staff to see a sporting event on one of the TVs, three people jumped on it, found me a great spot to sit and made sure the race was on the big TV where they seated me.

The resort is well out of Cabo San Lucas, so don't think you're going to walk into town or just take a short cab ride. Some reviews have mentioned a hotel bus that would take you into the city. That service is no longer, so you're looking at a $25 taxi fare each way or crossing the highway and hopping the public service.

Pros:
- Great service
- Large, well designed room
- Good food options on site
- A SWIM-UP SUSHI BAR!! (too cool)

Cons:
- Location is isolated on the Cabo coastline, so you're really locked into the resort
- Wi-fi service was spotty

Some tips:
- Buy a supply of cervezas at a liquor store. The hotel staff won't flinch about you bringing your own canned beers poolside and you'll save a good bit of money, more than enough to cover the taxi ride. Many people took their coolers with them poolside.
- Don't be shy about asking for an umbrella poolside. The staff will take care of it for you.
- Pre-arrange a shuttle service to and from the airport. I used Transcabo to get to the hotel and they were excellent. Should have done that going back to the airport, but I took a taxi instead and ended up with a much longer ride than I had planned for.
- Happy hour in the lobby bar is from 5-6. They'll make the happy hour cocktails to your liking. Try the fresh squeezed margarita.
- Bring your own supply of sun protection. The hotel shop is short on supply and selection of sun protection products.
- The swim up sushi bar is located at the "other" pool. You've got to do it. Try the food from Madero too. Great tacos!
- If you're a Hilton Honors VIP, they'll give you a nice upgrade and breakfast coupons. The coupons only cover the continental breakfast, but you can put them towards the full breakfast as well.
- The fitness center is much nicer than your usual hotel gym, so working out while on vacation is a good experience.

“Disappointed, not as relaxing as hoped for”

Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort

This resort did have some strong points, but there were definite drawbacks that will keep me from returning in the future. My husband and I are Hilton Hhonors Diamond members and I have really enjoyed other Hilton properties I have stayed at. We usually get some nice upgrades, but our room here was a standard room that looked mainly out at the neighboring hotel. The room was small and it would have been nice to have a couch that my husband and I could have sat on together, but there was only one armchair. The little balcony was serviceable, but not much of a view and sheltered from any chance of a breeze. The bathroom was fantastic, with a very large shower and a bathtub big enough to take a real soak in.

Housekeeping and turndown service both generally did a good job. We had problems with things not being restocked (the bottled water, drinking glasses, etc) but if we called down this would be rectified quickly.

Hilton advertises itself as having the "only swimmable beach in Cabos" - this is false as there are a few swimmable beaches in Cabos. In addition, for the entire week we were at the Hilton, all spots along the beach there were red-flagged (labelled as not swimmable). As I love being in the ocean but do not like pools, this was very disappointing. Why claim the only swimmable beach if it shouldn't be swum in? There are no lifegaurds at the pools or ocean, which seems strange given how dangerous the ocean can be here.

Next best for me on vacation is sitting in a lounge on the beach watching the waves. Not possible here because the chairs are far away from the water line and due to the slope of the sand, the waves can not be seen from the lounges. If you are content being even farther away from the ocean and sitting by the pool, I will say that there are plentiful lounge chairs available there. And if you are looking for a bit of peace, the lounges on the beach will not provide this. They are right down from the pools, which were filled with screaming kids all day.

There is drink service all around the pools and on the beach, though this ends around 5:00 when the poolside bars close down. And I know full well that I will pay extra for food/drinks at a resort, but $12+ margaritas and $7 beers is a bit much. After a couple days, we went to a supermarket in town and bought our liquor there to keep in our room. You can bring your own drinks and snacks to the pool and beach without any hassle.

If you are wanting to leave the hotel with any regularity, you are best off renting a car. Taxis are expensive and you are a ways from either San Lucas or San Jose.

The continental breakfast was sufficient, but upgrades to hot breakfasts are outrageously priced. Happy hour was nice, with $5 drinks and a free appetizer. Didn't care to see that 14-15 year olds were openly being served alcoholic drinks. The restaurants served average food at extraordinary prices, but service was phenomenal. The only two restaurants open for dinner were the most expensive ones, not the poolside ones.

Overall, if I am to return to a Mexican resort, I'll go back to the Hilton in Cancun, which was excellent and able to offer everything I wanted in a relaxing vacation.

“the best!”

This hotel is by far the best resort i've ever been to! We have a timeshare there and have been going for the past 5 years, but this summer we went to cancun and stayed at the royal carribean in cancun(only because our timeshare week was booked full), and i couldn't stop thinking about how much better cabo was! the pool is soo relaxed and it's not overcrowded like cancun. The shopping is more open-air markets instead of big stores. The pool chairs are soo nice and the towels are sooo big and the umbrellas are huge and the waiters will move them wherever. the poolside waiters are constantly walking around asking if you need something, no lie! the infinity pool is amazing and the breakfast buffet is wonderful! every morning we eat there and sit on a big patio/veranda and look at the ocean while a guy plays guitar! you will never find a breakfast buffet like it..they have everything! (...cactus juice, salmon locks, bagels, belgian waffles, muesli, oatmeal, and of course the traditional mexican food like chilaquiles and mahi mahi tacos). this resort is the best!! especially for families! It's like walking around a huge spanish style mansion with heaven right outside! i love love love it! it's just such a relaxed atmosphere!

“Loved Los Cabos Hilton”

Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort

My husband and I stayed here for an awards trip with his company. We were impressed by the high level of service and beauty of the hotel. The room we stayed in was ocean side and was beautifully decorated and quiet. The infinity pools are awesome, as is the wait staff who work there. On our last day there, we discovered that the Deli on the first floor had an amazing lunch special... $14.00 for a sandwich, salad, and smoothie. Way less expensive than ordering food poolside... and very, very tasty. We liked this resort because it offers a safe beach to swim in, when swells are minimal, and even when the resort was full, there seemed to be enough "space" to relax and enjoy the views and resort. This was appreciated. We will definitely be back!
