“Still El Mejor”

Went back to Las Ventanas for round 2 last week and it was still the best and it was still the ultimate crazy mega-splurge. Service was absolutely on point and the amenities were superb. A few things to note:

1) "The Sea Grill" restaurant two years ago far surpassed the more formal, "The Restaurant". This year, the tables have completely turned -- "The Restaurant" wins our vote for best property restaurant by a land slide (the same consistent grill quality wasn't there for us this year -- to the contrary, La Cava seemed to make their menu a little more low key, which suited us perfectly).

2) My husband signed up for the "Men In White" experience where he would cook me a gourmet dinner with the help of the executive chef. It was an awesome experience -- they set it up in the private cooking gazebo where they typically hold cooking classes. It was first rate -- my husband met with the chef the day before and set the menu. However, he was shocked when the chef left him after 2 minutes on game-day, and Jeff was left to completely fend for himself. We were also blown away by the expense of the experience (most expensive meal of the week; even more than the chef's table dinner in La Cava). Even though it was *extremely* spendy, I'd say it was still worth the experience for both of us, for a once in a lifetime treat.

3) We participated in the private chef's table dinner in "La Cava" this year (La Cava is the beautiful wine cave on the property). Again, an amazing experience -- beautiful wine pairings with the 5 course dinner. Was a lot of fun to socialize as there were 5 other couples at our table as well. Important to note: They provide you a thorough menu at the onset of the dinner. When I realized that the last course they'd be serving was something neither of us eat, my husband brought this to the waiter's attention and he assumed it was just my husband that didn't eat what they were offering -- bottom line, two hours later, I was stuck with the veal; Jeff got a steak. If you find this happens to you -- just make sure to be crystal clear about your wishes and they will accommodate whatever you need.

4) Although the children's amenities are non-existent, MORE families insisted on bringing their kids to this property while we were there vs. our trip two years ago (I believe we saw one child back then on property). This place is NOT for children -- there is literally nothing for them to do here. There technically is a family pool and an adult-only pool…but the general assumption on the property is that noise is kept to a minimum for the ultimate zen relaxing experience (ie no cell phone conversations at either pool). La Palmilla or Esparanza are clearly the way to go for families traveling with children who want five-star luxury in Cabo.

5) My husband unfortunately caught a bug on the way down to Mexico. Las Ventanas not only arranged for a doctor (who was there in literally 15 minutes from the moment we requested it), but they also arranged for two different rounds of pharmaceuticals to be ordered and delivered to us RIGHT AT THE POOL. Literally. It was actually comical how above and beyond these employees go for their guests. The staff followed up daily on my husband's progress.

6) This was the second year that we weren't able to go into the Sea (rip tide issues). If you're a Sea/Ocean swimmer, this might be a let down for you. We were perfectly content at the swim-up bar in the pool.

We learned that Las Ventanas has 71 suites and 450 staff members. In speaking to a manager, LV's priority first is to make sure their EMPLOYEES are happy. Their philosophy is working: Employees take great pride in their work at this resort -- and it shows in how they treat their guests.

Pool-side lounging, unbelievable cuisine (breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails - you won't find better), extremely comfortable accommodations, beautiful spa and fitness facilities, gorgeous beach and the best service you'll find globally (I would say a notch about George V in Paris -- yes, it's that good) is why I still consider this resort my #1 ADULT couples get-away destination for those wanting complete R&R and for those willing to MEGA SPLURGE. It is absolutely an extraordinary place.

    • Disliked — No TV at any of the bars (would have been nice to watch Soccer/Wimbledon outside with the guests at the swim-up bar or ceviche bar)

My wife and I stayed at Las Ventanas for 5 nights while celebrating our 25th anniversary last week. I cannot think of a more perfect setting. As I told all the people at the resort, I could not make any suggestions for improvement. Every detail was perfect. From the suite, to the food, to the pool, to the service, everthing was fabulous. I especially want to mention Oscar and Fatima our personal butlers, who were so pleasant and helpful. The Sea and Stars massage was so relaxing and the chef, Victor was a blast with the cooking I did to suprise my wife. Yes it was expensive, but worth every peso. Already dreaming of going back. “Well worth the expense”

Las Ventanas Al Paraiso, A Rosewood Resort

Recently returned from four nights at Las Ventanas and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Yes, it is an expensive resort, but you already know that if you are looking to book there. The question is, is it worth it? Our answer is most definitely yes. Las Ventanas has a Four Seasons-like quality but in a more intimate setting.
Hotel- True to its Mexican location in its style with an open-air feeling. All bars, restaurants, and the lobby are open-air and beautifully deocrated. The staff was exceptionally attentive and friendly.
Beach- Not a swimmable beach location. On the positive side, the beach was empty except for the occasional hotel guest. Although the waves prevent swimming, they do provide a beautifully soothing sound to dine and fall asleep to.
Pool- Amazing main pool (Infinity) next to the beach as well as more smaller pools throughout the property. Beautiful pool area, and amazing service, from setting up the lounge chairs and umbrellas, to providing extra little (free) things, such as bottled water, Evian spray, sorbets, fresh fruit refreshments, and sudoku (!) puzzles.
Suites- We stayed at a oceanview rooftop terrace suite. Spacious room with large bathroom area. Great large covered balcony with small jacuzzi as well as rooftop terrace with private lounge chairs and shaded couch sitting area. The terrace may also be set up for a private dinner (one of the highlights of our stay).
Dining- Two main restaurants. They both had amazing food, although overpriced.

“Exclusive luxury and great service”

Las Ventanas Al Paraiso, A Rosewood Resort

Jun 26, 2008

For a week of pure relaxation and pampering i recommend LV. As previously stated be prepared for the very high cost of food and drinks but definately worth it. Nothing is too much trouble and the services is one of the best i have encountered at a 5 star hotel. Service round the pool is perfect, free bottled cold water in ice buckets all day, evian spray cans, etc. We went to check out the One and Only and Esperanza for comparison and concluded that we had made the right choice - if you want personal, immaculate, quiet and great service choose LV. One and Only is much bigger, overgrown shrubbery and more family orientated. Esperanza is not as smart. LV is very romantic and quiet (not child friendly at all which was good for us and any other couple wanting a romantic break). Each block has its own butler for your every whim. As we were there 8 nights we got a bit bored of the menu and they were more than accomodating when we asked for dishes that weren't on the menu - in fact they encourage it so every diet requirement can be catered for. The quality of the food is excellent - no real need to leave the resort once you are there but they do have 2 convertable mini coopers that you can hire for the day to go and explore - well worth doing.
Our only drawback at LV was our room - this could have been our travel agent's fault but we were initially given a room with 2 queen beds overlooking the golf course - our agent assures us he booked a king bed ocean view but we saw they booking the hotel had so not sure where the fault lies - however, they dealt with this very efficiently and despite claiming to be fully booked they were able to find us a king ocean view the next day and moved all our luggage.
I would definately go back!

“WOW!!”

What an incredible place!

No detail was overlooked and each day was total luxury!! If you actually want to see Cabo, you might not want to stay at this hotel :) Once you arrive, you don't want to leave. ...and, you have NO reason to want to leave.

I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking to get away and be pampered.

The only complaint, and it is minor, is that there is no music of any sort at the pool during the day. Some will find this relaxing I'm sure, but there are plenty of pools on property! Give us a little music!

With that being said, we are already trying to pick a date soon to get back! It was that nice.
