Stayed with some relatives who had rented this 2-bedroom, 2-bath condo for 3 weeks in San Jose del Cabo. First, San Jose is much nicer and laid back than Cabo San Lucas, which is 18 miles down the road. San Jose is not as touristy, has a gorgeous uncrowded beach, and nice colonial Mexican town center with a cute plaza.
The condos at Hacienda Los Cabos are strategically placed between the beach and downtown. It's about a 20-25 minute walk to either. The downside is that the condos are on top of a steep hill. Not so bad going down, but tough coming up. There is another condo complex going up across the street, which will eventually block the marvelous ocean view, and is sometimes bothersome with construction noise.
I find condo living great at places like San Jose. With a living room and kitchen, you have a place to retreat to, and can save some money by cooking some of your meals yourself. Also part of the travel experience can be navigating a local grocery store. A grocery store, Ley, is only a 15 minute walk away. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, and utensils.
The condos themselves are OK. Not luxurious by any means, but the price is right. About $600 US for the week. Split between 2 couples, that is very reasonable. The condos are about 10 years old. There is plenty of room for 4 people. One bedroom has a queen bed with private bath. The other bedroom has twin beds with a bath across the hall. Large combo living room, dining area and kitchen with breakfast counter. Mark, the caretaker, is a transplanted American and is very accomodating.
