The lure of staying in a former Plaza de Toros was too much to resist, and we certainly did not regret it. The Quinta Real property in Zacatecas is quite memorable. No one could ignore the striking architecture. With only a few dozen rooms, the place is very quiet. You need not worry about hordes of children or spring-breakers keeping you up at night.
The hotel has several positives. A clean and attractive layout. A very nice restaurant, terraced over several levels. A great location, just along the aqueduct by a pretty park and close to the main drag (walking distance from the cathedral etc.). The bar down beneath the arcs of the ring is a must-see.
Downsides? The room size wasn't huge. Nor was there an abundance of staff, as the property is modest in scale. Perhaps during the high season there would be more guests and more staff. But in June it was very, very quiet. And the bullring itself could use a little landscaping or creativity to spruce it up. All in all, though, the place is a quality hotel worth visiting at least once.
