This little hotel located in the cloud/rain forest of NE Puebla state in Mexico is a gem. Getting there takes some patience but it is worth it for the people who want to get off the beaten track . Waterfalls, caves and horseback riding are some on the activities that can be arranged by the very helpful and caring staff at this hotel. The rooms are rustic, but there is plenty of hot water in very clean and lovely bathrooms. Hot during the day but cool at night and the city is beautiful. This is not the place for people with walking problems ,the city streets are very steep. Market day is Sunday and is well worth seeing it. The city is very quite during the week. The owners are charming and will help you in every way they can. Eat at Villa Jaiba for seafood, the coast is close by.
Or eat breakfast on Sunday, overlooking the market at restaurante El Portal. Watch the "voladores" Saturday night at "Los Jarritos" owned by the same people as the hotel. There is also live folk music until late.
To get there take a second class bus from Puebla, VIA, directly there . It take 4 hours and makes lots of stops but the bus is good and the trip interesting. It costs $12 each way per person. The other option is a driver from Puebla, we were quoted $200. each way. We took the bus.
