“Didn't get what I thought we were paying for!”

The people were nice and tried to be helpful. We paid for all-inclusve but pop and beer in the room fridge would be an extra cost if we took any. Fridge didn't work all week anyway and they were aware of it.

They also had a couple of freezers with icecream (bars & such) outside. Thought that should have been included with the all-inclusive but it wasn't. I protested rather loudly about that (after taking a bite out of one) and got it for free but I can't say that I enjoyed being a [------].

Husband and I aren't real fussy... not much for complaining but the food wasn't all that great nor was the "cafeteria style" atmosphere. Went to get coffee early in the morning and 2 days in a row they forget to turn on the heat so the coffee was cold. And the microwave wasn't working in our room.

Also had tip glasses everywhere. I thought tips were included in our all-inclusive fee. I don't have a problem with tipping for good service or just as a show of appreciation but don't care to be made to feel guilty if I don't tip. That was disgusting.

Met some nice people though and the weather was great but didn't feel like I "got what I paid for".

“dont go there”

Well it was the worse resort my husband and I stayed at. the hotel is very old. We didn't have maid service the last 2 days of our stay and they deactivated our key. No appologies was made. One restaurant and it is caffeteria style, no service. One meat, one patato 2 vegetables all week. So my husband and I spent a lot of time looking for new places to eat. We had gone to Peurto Vallarta before so we knew of many wonderful places to visit. Nuevo Vallarta is very beautiful and green. the beach is nice with white sand. there was only 3 other english speaking couples at the resort. So would I go there again? NO WAY! and I will not recommand it to anyone I know.

“good for basics, not for atmosphere”

Villa Varadero Hotel & Suites

our experience at villa varadero was mixed. the beach is better here than any you will find in puerto vallarta. the room was clean, simple, but well-looked after. we had a king-sized bed and a huge floor to ceiling window that overlooked the palmtrees and beach in front of the hotel. the pool is tiny, though, with no real space to sit (although there are a few chairs lined up along the pool's edge). we found that this place suited our needs just fine in that we were looking for somewhere that we could stay while we got our bearings and figured out what we would do for the rest of the week. but if you're looking for atmosphere, you'll be very disappointed. it's basically flourescent lighting bare bulbs everywhere, and the single restaurant felt a lot like a hospital cafeteria with its plastic chairs flourescent lights. the food, however, was pretty good, very typical mexican food, as most of the people who stay there are mexican families. for us, it was delicious. but i know that it wouldn't appeal to many people who aren't accustomed to traditional mexican food. the service was friendly, but we were awoken both mornings at 9am (admittedly not that early, but too early when on vacation) by construction going on in a nearby room. when we called the front desk to complain, they assured us they would take care of it, however it didn't cease. the beach was great, with ample palapas and chairs available, but you had to walk up to the bar and get your own drinks.

overall, i might want to try somewhere else before returning to the villa varadero. it was our first experience in a hotel in puerto vallarta, and it was by no means terrible, however we felt there were quite a few things that were lacking.

“Right on the Beach!”

This will be the third year I am returning to Villa Varadero Hotel with my friends. We like the fact that it is right on the beach; there is not a lot of walking involved to get to the beach as in many of the bigger hotels. It is indeed quiet, with a wonderful friendly staff. The rooms are clean and the kitchenette is handy for small meals. The bar served good drinks (happy hour included). It is easy to take public transportation to Puerto Vallarta or in the other direction to Bucerios. There are a few local restaurants within walking distance that are very reasonable and good. Last year, we discovered the ferry that takes you to Paradise Plaza; it is cheap, fast and has very good service. We are staying three weeks and know it will be very relaxing!

“Villa Varadero”

My boyfriend and I stayed in Neuvo Vallarta at the Villa Varadero from Dec. 26-Jan 1,2007. Mostly locals stay at this place which wasn't so bad since my boyfriend speaks Spanish. The room was small, the A/C smelled (or something did), and we didn't have a balcony which would have been nice. View was okay, pool was small, felt very safe, and the staff was incredibly nice and helpful.
Will probably stay closer to the main town known as downtown or the Malecon next time since there is lots to do there.
