“A Little Slice of Heaven”

My friends and I stayed at Flamingos to celebrate our college graduation. I had never been to Mexico, and I have to say it was the perfect introduction to the Country.
We booked through Orbitz and and arranged our shuttle transportation to and from the airport through them as well. This was very helpful considering the amount of timeshare people waiting to snag you at the airport. When we arrived at the resort, check-in went smoothly and the week in heaven began.
We arrived on Sunday afternoon and that night the resort was having their Mexican Fiesta. We opted for the All-Inclusive, being that we were on a budget. The Fiesta was included in that and was the perfect beginning to our week. There was a huge buffet and entertaining show. The shows were not Broadway quality of course, but I was pleased.
As for the grounds, amazing is the only word to describe them. It was like living in an island paradise. The pool was perfect, large and spacious, and never crowded. We never had a problem finding chairs.
The food was satisfactory as well. We ate all meals at the resort except for the one night we traveled into town, and were very pleased with the qualitly of food and service. I have read several other reviews which complained about slow service. However, we sat outside every meal but one, and overlooked the ocean each one of those. If you have that atmosphere, why care how long it takes to have dinner?? That is part of being on vacation. Being able to sit down and enjoy your dinner and the ambience rather than worrying about rushing or having to be somewhere.
We thought the service was great. Especially when you make friends with the servers. We had one server who stayed with us all week (Carlos). He was great! Very friendly and attentive, and he would find us everyday and even called us by name. The one day he was off, he made sure Tino was there to take care of us. Tino was awesome as well.
As for activities, I myself did not use any of the water sport options, but did partake in the pool activities. These were put on by the activities group and made the week worth while. My friend and I played water polo several days. These activities also gave us ample opportunities to meet other people staying in the resort as well as the activities staff. These guys are very friendly and hillarious as well. Hugo was our favorite! We even took dance lessons from him as well.
The one night we did leave the resort, we went into PV. We shopped around then had dinner at Pipi's. It was great. Huge portions and very strong drinks. Then ended the night at Senor Frogs which was great fun.
Overall, it was the best trip of my life. I recommend it to anyone

“Better than Puerto Vallarta”

We were unsure when we booked due to the fact that it was not "in" Puerto Vallarta, but we were more than happy with our choice. Close enough to Puerto Vallarta to go for a day trip or night out (we never had a problem getting a taxi, even at 3am), but the beach was better, sandy and perfect for swimming and playing in the waves or lounging on the beach. (Puerto Vallarta's beaches were rocky.) The town within walking distance is cute and has an authentic feel. The people there really nice and there are bars to hang out in. Our favorite was a wine bar we stumbled across. It's also easy to take a bus to sayulita which was a cute surfer town with big waves. The rooms were clean and the staff helpful and friendly. The hotel is beautiful, fun, had good food and an absolutely perfect beach. The first night we arrived they had live music in the bar on the beach next to the hot tub with a fire in the center overlooking the ocean. It was a really nice start to the vacation. The hotel also had some body boards that they just let us use when we wanted to play in the ocean. It also has a mini market where you can buy groceries (our room had a kitchen), use the ATM, or buy souvenires. Overall a good choice.

nice hotel, nice pool, nice beach.
its far from everything its actually the last resort of the area thats good for the not crouded beach but not good because the taxi caps will charge you more because the distance to everything.
i booked on travelocity with a cheap rate and everything looks good until i saw the room, all rooms at this hotel are doubles 2 separatlely rooms you share entrance door and balcony we had the small one wich dont have kitchen or fridge, there was a family in the other room so we were sharing balcony as well as everything in it like chairs, table, etc, we asked for and upgrade but it was $150 extra for night, expensive for me, staff is really nice they help you as much as they can.

“Had a great time at this resort!!!!!”

We had a great time at this resort.

My wife and I have been travelling for 10 years now and we were
not let down by this resort. Our boys had a blast.
The service was wonderful and met our expectations.
So did the staff at the front desk.
We had a one bedroom suite with Internet service everyday.
The rooms were big and clean. The Internet service was
very reliable for me on my laptop running Windows XP, but
my wife's laptop running Windows Vista had occaisional
connection issues - no fault of the Villa Del Palmer Flamingos.
Eveyone that we met there was having a good time.
Our boys just loved being in the pool everyday and playing on the beach.
The pool was splendid.
I've seen earlier complaints that the food in the restaurants was too expensive at the resort, but after going to Puerta Vallarta a few times and eating in other restaurants, the prices are almost the same.
Could be due to the weak dollar and increase in oil prices.
We did think that the poolside food and drinks were way too expensive. You did not get much food for the price of the poolside food and $8.00 for one Pina Colada was rediculous.
We spread the love and ate some nights at the hotel, but other nights we went to Bucerias or Puerto Vallarta.
The bus comes to the front of the hotel for Puerta Vallarta.
You have to take a taxi to Bucerias or walk about 20-30 minutes
along the beach. We walked one day with our small kids (5 and 2) in about 40 minutes (they played along the way) for a nice
lunchtime walk along the beach.

Overall, this is a really nice resort and worth the stay there.
They have only 2 restaurants on site, but others are only a taxi ride (about 5 minutes to Bucerias) or bus ride away (about 20 minutes to downtown Puerta Vallarta)

I've also seen previous reviews of people complaining of extra charges on there hotel bill that they did not incur. We did not have that experience and the hotel gladly removed the service fee that they describe in your welcome packet.

“Very Nice Hotel but pricey”

Villa del Palmar Flamingos

Great hotel but it's far from everything else. Taxi to the hotel $28, to Mega $6 (or 25' walk), Bucerias $7 (or 45' walk on the beach - no stopping), $20+ to downtown. No bus lines that I can see around the hotels area. $18 for a burger. $9.50 for fries, $25 for a pair of flip flop!!! Be sure to go with the AI if you're planning to stay at the hotel most of the time. Staffs were very friendly. Great rooms. Try to reserve a room at 4th floor or above and closer to the beach (left or right wing of the hotel) for a better view. We walked to Mega couple times to save some money (good exercise, too). They charged us $3.76 a day for tips (additional to maid service tips). Reasonable but I don't believe the money will go directly to the staffs at all!!

Tips: You can bargain for the tour tickets. We paid $25 for $48 tickets.
