“Too expensive for what you got”

Greenwood Inn Edmonton

3 of 5 stars
Toronto
Jul 10, 2008

Hello all, this hotel was not bad but I wouldn't say it was excellent either. Don't get me wrong, the staff was very professional and friendly and the place looked great but I just can't say the money was worth it. We paid about $165.00 for a room with two double beds. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean but it was very small. Given the money we paid, I truly thought our room would have been much bigger. Other than that the hotel was very good. The reason I mention the room size and make such a big deal about it is that my family and I had a hard time unpacking our clothes and moving about the room. There is not much room to maneuver your suit cases (if you have one). Anyways, the hotel was great but I wish you spent else for the room we got because the money wasn't worth it. Good luck!

“Trains no bother”

Greenwood Inn Edmonton

4 of 5 stars

a few travellers have cautioned about train noise on the east side of the hotel. We stayed three nights on the back side and experienced no problems with noise. If anything, the train presence was a bonus. The rooms are nice, and at least on par with the next-door Delta where we stayed earlier in the week.

“No longer a good value for the price”

Greenwood Inn Edmonton

May 9, 2008

I stay at the Greenwood when I visit Edmonton which is usually 8 to 10 times per year. The Greenwood used to be a good place to stay at a decent price if you needed to be on the South side of Edmonton.

This hotel used to be very clean with friendly knowledgeable staff however this is no longer the case.

The staff are very slow (both check-in and out), they appear not to care about the guests (tried to convince me the had given me a non-smoking room when it was smoking, swore at a fellow employee, etc.) the rooms are not well kept (stained carpets, mold on the bathroom tiles, discolored sinks, missing artwork, no TV remote, etc.) and the towels are very thin and hard.

Unfortunately there appear to be no decent mid-range hotels on the south side of Edmonton so I will be staying in the North or downtown.

This hotel has been going in the wrong direction for quite awhile and I was hoping that it would get better but it appears that it isn't.

“Pretty Expensive for What You Get”

Greenwood Inn Edmonton

My boyfriend and I stayed here as we were attending a friends wedding in Edmonton. It was a pretty busy weekend in the city with lots of events going on so because of this, the room was very expensive.

It is a very nice and clean hotel. Room was quiet, AC worked very well and the location is excellent. We never dined in their restaurant.

Overall, a nice place, but for the 12 hours we were there, it was overpriced. Stay here if you can get a room for under 100.

“Great place to stay”

Greenwood Inn Edmonton

4 of 5 stars

We were on the lookout for a hotel after a disaster with what we had booked. We drove into Edmonton looking for a brand name hotel such as the Westin or Holiday Inn. We saw a Holiday Inn, pulled in and they did not have any rooms but called down the road to the Greenwood Inn...it had vacancies.

We drove up and there was lots of parking. The entrance was clean and well taken care of. The clerk at the desk was professional and very efficient. We were in our room in less than 15 minutes! Very impressive considering we were walk-ins.

Our room was a little small but was incredibly furnished. They provided 2 gorgeous thick terry cloth robes which were great to use going to the pool. Everything was beautiful and you could see the attention to detail! The king size bed dwarfed the room but was so comfortable to sleep on that I wanted to take it home!

Each room had a computer cable in the desk, a computer connection on the phone, a brand new colour TV and you could even check out using the TV. The bathroom had a nice hair dryer on the wall, soaps, shower cap, mouthwash, tons of towels and 2-ply kleenex. No paper thin toilet tissue either!

The hotel has two restaurants - ABC Restaurant which was more family oriented, a little more relaxed but the food was very good and reasonably priced. Daltons, the other restaurant, was a little more elegant, actually much more elegant and the food was incredible. We had the morning buffet there and the food was perfectly cooked, service was impeccable, reasonably priced for what was offered and I really wished I could have eaten more!

The pool and Jacuzzi were both small but more than adequate. The sauna was wonderful and clean. They had dressing rooms in the shower area complete with lockers that had their own locks...what a bonus. Tons of towels sitting right near the pool with a laundry basket for them to be put into when you left. There was a really well stocked exercise room with a ceiling mounted television just off the pool area.

Down in the lobby there was a computer that was available for all the guests. You could surf the internet, check your email and even print documents if you need to. We were quite impressed with the thought put into the amenities at this hotel.

We loved this hotel and thought the location was excellent should you wish to go either downtown or to the West Edmonton Mall. We will certainly return here and recommend it highly to others.
