“Worst ever”

Comfort Inn & Suites

1 of 5 stars
Saskatchewan
Jun 15, 2008

I have travelled alot for work and some hotels have been pretty bad. But this was the worst.
Very dated hotel. The resturant was far from clean. Although renos were going on they could of tidyed up.
The free breakfast was terrible, I do not think they had anyone qualified to cook.
Rooms had very old furnishings, small and cramped.
No extra chairs except for the one at the desk and if you kept it where it was you could hardly get by to go out the door.
The parking at the back was scary, if I was'nt travelling with a college I would not of stayed there. We went out to eat and not even 20 ft from the hotel we were hit up for money.
If you go downtown find somewhere else I know we will.

Firstly thankyou for your feedback , without negative feedback we never know what we can improve . Im sorry your experience was a bad one . Unfortunately the restaurant is privately owned and was going through a management change at the time of your stay . Im excited to announce we have a great new chinese restaurant thats just opened its doors . Recent renovations are just being finished complete with new carpeting and a new gym room ! Unfortunately being downtown you cant really escape undesirables but I can assure you they are harmless and the situation is getting better day by day .
I hope you give us a chance to redeem ourselves .

“No soundproofing”

Comfort Inn & Suites

2 of 5 stars
Prince Albert
May 11, 2008

We stayed in a King Jacuzzi Suite at a senior's rate of $159 per night which we considered excellent value for our money. The suite was spacious, clean, and had a huge jacuzzi. The only problem was the noise. I think it is the least soundproof building we have ever stayed in and as a result our rest was interrupted many times during the night by people walking in the halls, doors opening and closing, and some loud music on the floor above us. We enjoyed the breakfast but there seemed to be no attendant looking after the breakfast room, so food was not replenished and the garbage was overflowing so people were putting their dirty dishes on a table at the entrance of the room (not an appetizing sight). We will probably not return but it is in an excellent location and possibly other travellers would not find the noise an inconvenience.

“Met our needs”

Comfort Inn & Suites

3 of 5 stars
Rye, NY (from UK)
Sep 2, 2007

I stayed in this hotel for only one night with my wife and two young boys. The reception staff could not have been more friendly and helpful and managed to find one of the largest rooms (seemed clean) on site to accommodate the two cots we required, both of which the hotel provided. The breakfast, though included, let the hotel down badly. The food was poor quality, presented poorly and the waiting staff were not entirely friendly. The hotel is well-situated for all downtown Edmonton attractions, though a good distance from the West Edmonton Mall if that is what would draw you to the city.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — The friendliness of the reception staff and size of the room
    • Disliked — The breakfast was appalling

“Decent budget downtown hotel”

Comfort Inn & Suites

This is a decent downtown hotel for travellers on a budget. Efficient but somewhat indifferent staff (though not unfriendly). The furnishings are somewhat dated, aside from the nice new TV. Not the highest housekeeping standards, but reasonably clean - we noticed what we thought to be old vomit stains on the wall of the bathroom, but otherwise fine. Great location; easy to walk to anywhere downtown. Free parking in lot behind hotel with video security, but there seemed to be some sketchy characters lingering around the hotel. Overall a decent night's sleep and I would definitely stay here again. Continental breakfast in the restaurant downstairs not really worth bothering - the coffee machine in the room made a better cup of coffee.

We went to Edmonton for a Quick trip and choose the Comfort
Inn because of the location. This hotel was close to the Tellus Science center. The hotel was very clean and nice, the price was excellent. The rooms were large, but could use some updating.
I would re-book to stay in this hotel again, but would definately ask for a room on the west or south west side. We stayed in a room on the north east side and found it very noisy, the traffic never stopped all night. The continental breakfast in the morning was good ,simple but good.
