“STAY CLEAR AWAY!!!”

Coliseum Inn

This was our 2nd hotel in one stay, after the travelodge down the street was horrifying. Little did we realize horrifying was following us, only to another location and in other means.
The rooms appeared clean, and were better than the last hotel. But the rugs obviously weren't vacuumed, the showers blew cold water instead of hot, yet the sink had ample hot water.
The toilets are low, the toilet paper is like using the morning newspaper. No cups in rooms. Not even a pen. Missing lightbulbs from lamps, other lights had burnt out bulbs. No housekeeping at all! Need a towel, go down to front desk to get it yourself. Want room service? Go downstairs to get it! No iron. Hair dryer doesn't work. Phone is pathetic. Remote for tv didn't work and the channel selection was like farmer vision. Sheets don't fit the bed. Blankets smelled (but I take them off anyways at any hotel b/c the bedspreads are rarely ever washed anywhere and that's just gross) Ice machines don't work, no fridges in room. They say on website newly renovated??? Uh, putting what they classify as a new desk in the room is not newly renovated, especially since it was trashed.
Keep in mind, there were 4 of us together, with 4 different rooms, and this review is consistent for ALL of the rooms, not just mine!
The real kicker, was waking up with blotches. I'm not a person who suffers allergies of anything. But this place did it. I was there for 4 nights. HORRIBLE! I look like a walking disease. I'm a business person, and this was totally unacceptable. Cut my trip short to come home and see my doc in another province, who can't identify what these are, but says they look like bites. Insinuating BED BUGS.

Stay CLEAR AWAY From this hotel!! Nothing is worth what I'm going through!!! There was a guy murdered there the weekend before, and there were problems while I stayed. The bar beside is so loud I couldn't sleep and I was on the TOP floor. Save yourself the grief and go ELSEWHERE for SURE!!

BED BUGS? HONESTLY!! Not acceptable AT ALL!

This place is a trotch hole and the staff doesn't even give a rat's petoot about it! Service is not the best, nor is the food. Front desk staff is always away from desk and leaving phone off the hook, so you won't get any calls put through.

Truly... stay clear away and take the hit on extra drive to your destination. For being beside northlands agricom and rexall, this place is a disgrace... and should be condemned!!! Health inspectors definately need to make a surprise visit to this hell hole and shut it down!

    • Liked — Only the location to Agricom and Rexall, but what a disgrace!!
    • Disliked — Everything else, right down to the bed bug infestation!

“SCCCCCCCCCARY!”

If you want hooker lane stay at this hotel it's so damn close to 118Th ave were you see nothing but police. Also there was a murder in front of the hotel on March 27th 2008 so scary. The "Diesel" ultra longe is so loud at 1 am. Stay away try to stay at the north edmonton inn sure it's 15 minutes fromrexall place but it's nicer and in a better area.

“You'd need to be completely wasted to enjoy your stay at this place”

I've stayed here twice, thanks to its proximity to Rexall Place. It is a complete dive in a scary, scary part of town. (My big, strappin' boyfriend would not let us walk to a nearby gas station for snacks - HE got too scared by the skiddy folks hanging around outside).

If you're unfamilliar with Edmonton and just want something close to Rexall, take your chances. I would imagine most of these rooms are rented out by the hour, if you catch my drift. My experiences were not as bad as some of the reviews I've read, but it's still a hell hole, with poor, poor, poor customer service. Every front-desk person we encountered sucked - hard. Rude and apathetic.

If all you want is something within staggering distance from Rexall, by all means book this place. Be sure to get completely loaded at Rexall, otherwise it'll be a terrible experience. If you're concerned about things like cleanliness and service, find somewhere else. I would rather sleep in my car than stay here again.

“Awesome Hotel”

I stayed at the hotel last week when I was in Edmonton for business. Most people stay at this hotel when there is an event going on at Rexall......but most people don't realize this is also an awesome hotel to visit for business travellers. I was only 10 minutes from Downtown, 15 minutes to Sherwood Park, 15-20 minutes from Fort Saskatchewan. This is an awesome location. The rooms are nice as well.

Me and my girlfriend stayed there during the middle of summer and we weren't too sure about it at first but we ended up having a great time. It's a bit of a distance from downtown but there is a train station attached to the Rexall Place so it made it really easy to commute. The room was adequate and clean. And we noticed that it's really quiet at night. The staff were friendly and I don't know why that restaurant isn't full all the time. The meals that we ate there were excellent for the price. Nothing like that Alberta beef! This is not a bad place to stay on a budget. I'll probably stay there when I go back to Edmonton for business in February.
