“good location”

Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre Jasper

stayed here for two nights, hotel staff very friendly.the room was comfortable and spacious the only off putting thing was that the internal rooms faced onto the pool which could be a bit lively at times, but apart from that hotel is good. Also it is a pleasant short stroll into town (about 5 minutes)The diner next door does a really good breakfast which is cheaper than the hotel.

Stayed 1 night August 06. Quick check in, good sized room, clean and comfortable beds. Nice indoor swimming pool and hot tubs.

Only negative about the hotel was there was nothing to do after 9pm! Swimming pool closed, so we went to the bar so our 12 yr old could play pool and we could have a drink. It had been a 'slow' day so they were closing and in any case, our son wasn't allowed in the bar area, therefore couldn't have played pool even if it was open.

So we were tucked up in bed by 9.30pm.......

Positives though, good breakfast and pleasant staff.

“Excellent accomodations”

The hotel was a very pleasant surprise. Upon arrival the front desk staff were very pleasant and helpful and right from the start you could tell the hotel was clean and well kept. The rooms were very clean and quite spacious with the only disappointment being that when we returned to our room at about 3 pm the room still had not been made-up. Like the rest of the hotel, the pool and hot tub were immaculately maintained and offered a nice break. I would not recommend the hotel restaurant "Walters". The service was slow to non-existant and the Saturday nite buffet was overpriced and poor (unless you liked very rare roast beef, cold roast potatoes and "spare" spare ribs). The restuarant setting was very nice but it was spoiled by unattended children screaming in the pool (it is next to the restaurant and is only separated by a 7-8 foot barrier).
I would definitely stay at this hotel again and highly recommend it for couples or families. The hotel staff should be commended for their friendliness and customer relations.

“Lack of staff”

Arrived here on 27th December for a ten night stay.

The check in was swift - although it was midnight and there wasn't a lot happening for the reception desk apart from booking us in.

The rooms were clean and warm. There was always plenty of hot water. The beds were comfy and everything advertised was provided. Rooms were cleaned everday, but sometimes not until late in the afternoon. Not good when you're just back off the ski slopes and can't get straight into your room. They need a system of Housekeeping being able to see which rooms are empty during the day (Signs that say the opposite of 'do not disturb'?).

The service in the restaurant was terrible. Although the food was good. Not that good that we tried the restaurant again though

The buffet on New Years Eve was good value, but the layout made the queues very long. The hotel could also have done with putting on something that both adults and kids could enjoy. They had kids entertainment on up to 11 o'clock, but then there was entertainment over midnight for the adults. But we wanted to bring the new year in with the kid! Bad planning on the hotels part. The hotel suggested we visited the liquor store and sat in our rooms!

Once New Year was out of the way and the hotel wasn't full, the service in the hotel was much better. They just can't cope when the hotel is full.

The shuttle into the town centre didn't run over New Year, but they did get us taxi's (free of charge) to compensate for this.

We did find out that there had been a management change and the Head Chef had walked out (or fired?) just before christmas.
Like all places in Jasper there is a shortage of staff.

The pool was very noisy with kids over the holiday period. But I imagine that during the week for the rest of the year this shouldn't be a problem.

All in all, I've stayed in worse places. And yes I would stay here again, but at a quieter time of the year.

Drinks service in the bar wasn't quick, but maybe just slightly slower than normal Canadian pace. The cocktail menu is worth working your way though. All presented nicely.

Sorry this is a bit disjointed. But this is my first report I've done.

“Spa package”

Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre Jasper

We have visited Sawridge Inn for two-day getaway "spa package".
Our goal was just to relax and enjoy Jasper. Check-in was done quickly. Room was very clean. Even though the hotel is an older property, it is well maintained and staff is very helpful and attentive.
We have used "Walter's Dining room" for all our meals. The service from our server on the first night was absolutely excellent. I am a very discriminative tipper, but the guy deserved $20.00 tip! Other meals were also good and service more than adequate.
We had included massages in our package and my wife had a facial. We would rate the Spa 4 out of 5.
If you are looking for quick getaway while you choose Jasper, you can not go wrong with the Sawridge Inn !!!
