The scenic drive from Banff to JAsper in Jasper National Park is amazing. well worth every step of the road! It is rated one of the top 10 scenic drives in the world and when you do this you will know why! Glaciers galore, emerald lakes that you can canoe or kayak, Snow top peaks as far as the eye can see! Animals of all sorts...we saw many bears in Canada. There is a fee per day to be in the park however it almost last 2 days as it is good through the following day at 4pm, they are not too picky about watching for tags. So if you are going in for a one night stay that pass will last you the next day till 4pm. Which is nice. It is 20 per day. FYI Canada is expensive a can of coke is $2 for example and gas is much more expensive then the USA. Cost us 50 to fill our gas tank in USA cost 80 to fill up in Canada

When you get to Jasper town, it is a really nice town to explore, go to the visitor center there is a board that has rooms for rent by locals, seemed reasonable. We camped but that sounded fun to check those rooms out.

Also at dusk you have to go out exploring in your car or bike, I saw a huge back bear 1 block from town, tons of elk and deer. Really neat stuff!

The Tram is great, go early since the line gets long

JAsper beer Company is great! The Thia resteraunt is wonderful

“A great little hike near Jasper”

Hike of the 5 Lakes. We were extremely pleased with this hike...... This was my kind of hike... The hike was mostly on flat terrain although there was a big hill to hike over in the beginning to get out to the lakes... then it was mainly flat (or has flat as it can be - being the Rockies) there are a number or hiking options. Due to not having alot of time we took the main route which is in the middle. We saw 3 of the 5 lakes... and yes, they are all different colors. This is due to them being different depths and glacier fed lakes. It was a very sunny day, thus the colors of the lake were at their best.... it was truly Beautiful.

My family found plenty to do in the Jasper area. Although some of the attractions are a bit expensive - the tramway and the boat trip on Maligne Lake to Spirit Island - I would definitely recommend them. There are great hikes in the area. We loved the hiking at Mount Edith Cavell and Maligne Canyon.

“Tonquin Valley Backcountry Lodge”

Jasper National Park

There should be a special set of adjectives reserved for places like Jasper National Park. Even words like "stunning" and "spectacular" don't really do it justice. If you stick to the roads, you'll see a lot of beautiful things to be sure -- but to really experience the park, you need to get into the backcountry. If the prospect of hauling yourself and all your gear by foot up mountain trails doesn't appeal, but you still want to get into the mountains, there's no better choice than a trip on horseback to the Tonquin Valley Backcountry Lodge. After a half-day trip on horseback, you'll arrive at a set of comfortable cabins nestled at the head of Amethyst Lake, with the Ramparts towering above. From there, your choices are your own: fishing on the lake; hiking through alpine meadows; or, for those whose idea of a perfect vacation is a little less strenuous, relaxing on the porch with a book and a mug of coffee. Chances are, you'll have the lake or the trails almost to yourself. After our experience at the lodge, we'd recommend it to anyone who loves nature and the outdoors.
