“Luxurious duplex on lake”

We stayed at the Patricia Lake in one of the new units - ours was the Douglas Fir. These are duplexes with nice kitchens and a bathroom with granite countertops and very stylish furnishings. Some family members appreciated the flat screen TVs. We used the propane BBQ outside our unit to cook dinners, which worked out quite well. Complete BBQ tools and quality cooking supplies were included.

We did enjoy renting a canoe and kayak to go around the lake. It was extemely peaceful and beautiful. We also hiked there from Jasper townsite on a beautiful trail.

They do have laundry machines, a hot tub and playground onsite.

The only problem we found was the lack of air conditioning for hot days. Since only about half the windows open and have screens, it was very warm inside the condo, and not even a ceiling fan to cool us off.

Jasper is quite a small town and out of the way. I'd choose this location if you really want to get away from your normal life and enjoy a quieter existence, even for a few days.

Stayed for 2 nights in a Grove suite (Douglas Fir - room 3) and it was very good - but not perfect.

Positives

Would second many covered in previous reviews, but from the perspective of a couple with a 14 month old infant:

Great facilities - Full Kitchen, with every piece of kit you could wish for (not forgetting your huge Gas BBQ outside)
Great interior - contemporary feel, with big comfy sofas & fire for the evenings
Entertainment - Cool plasma LCD screens - with limited channels (lounge and bedroom), DVD player and cd:HIFI - no excuse for being bored if confined to your suite
Huge shower - Room for the whole family!
Views of the lake (from suite) - Very relaxing

Negatives

Bearing in mind the owners knew we had a baby (Cot prebooked) -we were surprised to find our top floor room had a staircase without a door to keep the infant in - had to block gap with said cot...
Also seemed to be lots of very obtrusive trailing wires from lamps etc & we had a bit of an incident with an attractive, but heavy glass topped side table (fill in the gaps yourselves!)
I'm not saying these are bad things in themselves - just that if you have an infant that likes to climb and explore, you'll be spending a lot of time following them around (and we didn't have to do this half as much at other places we stayed on this trip)

Finally a minor gripe / tip

The grove suites are in 4 'blocks'

With the single storey Pine & Aspen, you get a lakefront location, with patio, chairs and BBQ's looking out onto the water.
Behing them are the the 2 storey Spruce and Douglas Fir suites - still great views -especially from our top floor suite (we had asked for a view) -however the top floor suites have their patios behind the building - no lake view - whilst those at the front bask in the evening sun glistening off the lake, you have to sit in the shadow of the building looking back into the other bungalows / parked cars -hardly a hardship, but just made the evenings a little less special

Would recommend the Grove Suites to anyone - but warn those with (very) little ones to keep a watchful eye!

We just returned from a 3-night stay at the "Motel". We loved the beautiful surroundings and the peace & quiet, well worth the 5 minute drive from town. The main reasons we chose Patricia Lake is the amazingly low price (we paid only $85, whereas most hotels in Jasper start at $180 or more). Of course, we expected to “get what we paid for”, but were pleasantly surprised to find that the quality of the room and the service were on par, if not better, than your typical Jasper hotel. Though our unit was very small, it was cozy and very comfortable. It even included a small fridge! An abundance of mirrors helped make it feel a bit roomier. We enjoyed reading through a logbook of comments from previous people who had stayed in our unit, and learned that elk will often come out in the late evening or nighttime to snack on the flowers in the window boxes. Sure enough, on our first evening, we spotted one on the edge of the woods near our unit. Just down the road is another lake, called Pyramid Lake, which offers some breathtaking views of water/trees/mountains. We were in Jasper to attend a friend’s wedding, and most of the wedding photos were taken on a small island connected with a quaint wooden bridge. I highly recommend taking the short drive to check this out! We will definitely return to stay at Patricia Lake bungalows the next time we come to Jasper.

From the moment we stepped onto the Patricia Lake Bungalows property, we were happy. The grounds are beautifully groomed, cabins are well-maintained and very clean, staff is friendly, and the lake view is just plain lovely. We were a party of three adults staying in one of the basic cabins with a double bed in the main room and two twins in another room, and we found the accommodations to be plenty big enough for us and our luggage. The kitchen area with its ample refrigerator and stovetop provided everything we needed. We spent three nights there, using PLB as a base from which to explore the Jasper area, and we were always delighted to return to our sweet little cabin after a day's adventures. Despite the close proximity of other cabins, the neighboring guests we encountered were courteous and there was plenty of peace and quiet to be savored. One nice touch: every evening a staff member will stop by your cabin just to make sure you have plenty of towels, coffee, or whatever else you might need. It's only a leisurely ten-minute drive from town and yet it's a world away. If you want a peaceful getaway in a place where the staff clearly cares about the quality of your stay, this is a great place to try. Thanks, Patricia Lake Bungalows, for a wonderful vacation experience.

Located about 10 minutes drive away from Jasper town, its a perfect little 'getaway'. Beautifully presented and very cute. We stayed in one of their cottages which was clean and comfortable. Patricia Lake Bungalows are set right on the lake, which is a wonderful view in itself. You can also take a walk around the lake, although its so large, we never made it all the way around!
