“Nice, but not great”

I stayed at this hotel for a Friday & Saturday night for a special occasion with my wife. We had a regular room (not a jr. suite or suite) and the room was a nice size and clean. The view wasn't great, looking out from the back of the building and over the back of a bistro behind the building, but we weren't expecting a view so that wasn't a large negative. We would occasionally hear large numbers of bottles being emptied into the dumpster and the trash collection (and we were over 5 floors up). The room has a wall paper pattern of vertical stripes, and while elegant, there were a couple of edges where it seemed to be slightly peeling, not exactly what I would expect in a hotel of this grade.

As for service personell, the first bellman and valet I met upon checking in were very pleasant and professional, as was the front desk clerk, but not everyone maintained this professionalism. The front desk personell were attentive and professional (and assisted me with a dinner reservation when the concierge was not present). The bellman and car valet, not so much. I later called the front desk to inform them I needed to retrieve something from my car, and she said she would have th car brought up. The car was brought to the front and I retrieved what I needed from the car and was informed by the bellman if I needed to retrieve something from the car he could just let me into the private garage. I didn't argue with him that I had told the front desk clerk I only needed to retrieve something from the car.

Additionally, when we were ready, I stood for a couple of minutes at the bellstand while the bellman and valet just talked outside (not helping any guests). When I walked out and got their attention to retrieve my bags (from checked storage) and my car (from the garage), the car was brought around well enough, but rather than bring the bags out to my vehicle (where I was standing), he just dumped them next to couch inside where my wife was sitting and didn't offer to bring them out the vehicle, etc.

The best part of the hotel for me was definitely the central location and walking distance to many sites and restaurants, great since we are both explorers and enjoy touring cities by foot or using public transportation.

“Great way to end a cruise!”

Le Soleil Hotel and Suites

5 of 5 stars
Scottsdale, Arizona
Jun 3, 2008

We had just finished a 14 day cruise to Alaska, pampered all 14 days and wanted a great finishing touch to our trip. Le Soleil did just that. The staff was professional and pleasant and went out of their way to answer any questions and point us in the right directions.

The one-bedroom suite was enormous following a stay in a stateroom onboard ship. It was quiet and well appointed. Even tho the furnishings seemed a little "out-dated" I think they fit with the whole boutique look of the property. However, the "kama sutra" basket with condoms and lotions as well as oxygen to purchase was a bit much and had we had children with us would have caused many questions. Could do without those!

Would definitely recommend to everyone, and have done so!

“Nice hotel, but watch out when parking your car!”

We stayed at the Hotel Le Soleil for a Vancouver wedding and enjoyed our stay. The rooms were a good size and elevators are very speedy (and almost always open on to the lobby when you come into the hotel). Good amenities, but the comforter of the bed is a bit outdated for our taste.

A pretty good location - close to the waterfront, Robson Street for shopping and a 30-minute walk to Granville Island.

Be sure to watch out for car vandalism in this area. On-street parking is very expensive, as is hotel valet parking. We parked at the garage across the street and we don't recommend it! We came to our car upon check-out to see that the window had been broken and our belongings stolen (which were stored in the trunk, completely out of sight). The security guard at the garage didn't seem the least bit interested in this, so please be careful and check on your car.

“wonderful experience!”

convenient location - walking distance to the train station, shopping, great restaurants. Nice large walk in shower. Two bathrobes were available in the closet (a lot of hotels offer only 1). Wonderful, comfortable bed with pillow top, nice feather pillows, luxurious sheets. They had free wireless internet - however connection was spotty in places and I couldn't use my laptop in the living room area. I would have preferred better quality towels - although they were embossed towels they seemed rather thin. I would definitely stay here again!
