We started vacationing in Canada in the 80's. Since that time we have gone to Canada at least once a year. In the beginning, we would stay a week at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel in Victoria and a week at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver.
In the early 90's we started looking around for an accommodation on the West Side of Vancouver that would offer a Suite with a full kitchen and a view of Stanley Park and English Bay.
The Coast Plaza was our answer! We stay up as high as we can for a view of English Bay and Stanley Park.
We love the idea that the Plaza has within it's complex a grocery store on the ground level which you can elevator down to without ever going through the Lobby and find those items that will keep you happy in your room with the view.
There's Super Safeway a block over from Comox on Davies that has everything you would need for food needs. (Adjacent to Safeway is a Providence Liquor store.) The hotel can direct you to a Whole Grain Grocery store on Robson if your into more exotic fare.
Our Suites have always had a super size King bed and television in the bedroom. A television, dining table and free computer hookup in the livingroom. The livingroom is large with a walk out balcony.
Look on the Vancouver websites for dining and tours. But, please keep in mind that Vancouver is a very walkable city and public transportation is great.
Tired of cooking don't want to eat out? Great room service menu.
I've never seen on a room service menu Lamb Shank with all the trimmings for $19.00 and Bumble Berry pie Alamode. Wonderful!
It's nice to be greeted by a hotel staff whom with with their smile and greeting say to you. "welcome home."
I've only written one other review for a property and that is the Molesworth Suites in Dublin, Ireland. Again, location, location, location and friendly ,'we remember you staff.'
