“Short break on the way to Whistler”

Arrived from London, rented a car and arrived at the hotel around 11pm local time. Free valet parking- great.
Travelling with wife and sons age 10,11 years. Hotel put us in a junior suite. This had a lovely room for my wife and I with a sitting room for the boys, The sofa bed slept one ( or 2) and they provided a roll away bed.
Central location for shops. Denny's for breakfast or the local Market place supermarket. Easy drive the next day up to Whistler.
Arrived jet lagged and tired. Cookies and milk were waiting for the boys- nice touch. I booked 6 wks in advance by email and got a great discounted rate.

“Nice Business Hotel”

We stayed here in March for one night at the beginning of a 1 month trip. It was a nice, typical business hotel. Small but very comfortable room with a tiny balcony. Nice Molton Brown amenities in the bathroom. We were able to walk everywhere and store our bags for the day. Excellent coffee at nearby Cafe Artigiano. Hotel has a nice looking pool and spa but we did not use it.

“A great, well-located hotel”

Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver

The Met is an ideally located hotel with clean cozy rooms and excellent service. The staff was extremely helpful at all times. The room was a little small, but very comfortable and clean. Small touches in the bathroom such as a soap dish and Q-tips and cotton balls showed that they pay attention to detail to make guests comfortable. The location is excellent. We walked nearly everywhere from the hotel including to Yaletown, to catch a ferry to Granville Island, and to Stanley Park. There is also a bus stop right outside the hotel, making it easy to use public transportation to get around. There are several eating places closeby including Caffe Artigiano. There is some construction going on next to the hotel, so it may be noisy on weekdays. We were not affected as we were there on a weekend. I would definitely choose to stay at the Met again.

“Love the Met!”

Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver

We stayed at the Met for three nights at the start of a two week Vancouver/Vancouver Island honeymoon. The room was huge with the biggest bed we had ever seen and great views of the sky scrapers around us. The bathroom was huge with big bath and great shower. The left chocolate dipped strawberries in our room with a congrats card for our wedding which was a nice touch. It is a big hotel but has a great personal touch which makes you feel special. They were very helpful and the martinis in DIVA at the Met are great! Really recommend this as we had a brilliant time!

“Great for a little bit of luxury”

Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver

Apr 29, 2008
5/5 found this review helpful

For our last night of our 10 day Vancouver/Victoria/Whistler trip, we decided to splash out on a little bit of luxury.

We booked on-line directly with the Metropolitan after using Trip Advisor reviews and forums to narrow down our search, we went for the Breakfast of Champions package - as it included breakfast for 2, an upgrade to an Executive (Floor 11 and above - I think) King Room and an unknown "Welcome Amenity"

On arrival we were impressed with the friendliness of the front-desk staff and even more impressed with the welcome amenity which turned out to be biscotti, strawberries, chocolate sauce and a hand-written welcome note waiting for us in our room.

The room was slightly smaller than what we were expecting - we had to use a chair to store our second suitcase - hardly a big issue, and the bed was huge - with a duvet not a blanket - such a pleasant change! The marble bathroom was fantastic - with lots of mirrors - though thankfully from the shower cubicle you don't get a "full frontal" view!

Whilst we were out eating dinner our used towels were replaced, the bed was turned down, a bottle of water was put by the bed, the radio was playing relaxing music and a card with the following day's weather was placed by the water. We don't normally stay in hotels - so all of this was quite a novelty.

Check-out time was midday - so we made the most of the room and checked out at 11.50!

Our only possible warning (which didn't impact on our Saturday night stay) was the construction work going on directly next door. A letter explaining that work starts at 7.30 Mon-Fri and at 10am on Saturdays was in the room. However, seeing that most of downtown Vancouver is a building site just now (and will continue to be so until Feb 2010), ear-plugs might be a good idea wherever you stay!
