“So cosy and friendly”

YWCA of Vancouver

I absolutely LOVED this hotel and can't recommend it enough. I went during December and they had decorated up the place so tastefully and nicely, such a cute xmassy style. The staff are endlessly helpful, it's pretty cheap compared to hotels of the same standard, and the rooms are large with really clean and good standard bathrooms.

It's a really quiet hotel and perfect location for exploring Vancouver. The rooms are really warm if it's cold when you're there and you get a TV with a ridiculous number of channels. Aaah Canadian TV...so rubbish and so addictive. Also for someone from Britain- the beds are HUGE!

Would love to stay there again, especially near xmas time

We took the advise of Tripadvisor and once again were not disappointed. What a great place! The staff was really friendly and helpful and had great suggestions about what to do in the city. The room was really comfortable and even had cable tv and a great bed. The bathroom, although not in the room was kept very clean and we had no trouble showering when we wanted to. We also used the kitchen and saved some money eating breakfast there. Although you have to pay extra for parking our bill came to $85 a night including parking. For Vancouver we felt like that was a great price. We'd stay here again in a minute and highly recommend it.

Booked a double bed private bath. Was on 12th floor. Very clean, just the right size for 2. Nothing fancy but clean. Maid service daily. Quiet. You leave your room key with the front desk and retrieve it when you come back. Doors locked nightly at 11 but you can be rung in. Hotel staff very pleasant and welcoming. Internet available for $. Transit map in lobby for reference. There is no train from the airport, bus only but easy to use. There are several kitchens and laundry but we did not use.

Vancouver is a very young population. City is clean and safe. Be careful in east downtown - walking between Gastown and Chinatown-area is concentrated in shabby characters.

Not related to the hotel, but my one comment about being about the city is that the panhandlers/beggars are very aggressive. My encounters left me very angry with how rude they are. Not a reflection of the city but just a warning - ignore anyone wanting to ask you a question.

Despite having to dodge workers digging up slabs of concrete at the front door, everything else about the YWCA met my expectations according to the good reviews here & from other sites.

It's clean & friendly, with comfy beds & pillows. In a great location, just around the corner from Robson st and a 5min walk along
Robson to the main shopping strip, along with Granville st. The kitchens were clean, one of the desk guys gave us a few plates and cups without charge. One of us even left our bag/purse in one of the kitchens and a very honest fellow guest promptly handed it to the front desk. What a relief!

It was a bit of a hike, but we walked to Stanley Park and the totem poles from the hotel. An easy stroll and a bit of shopping along the way made it a pleasant walk. A slight incline on the way back was a little difficult for our tired feet, but they were soothed after stopping into the Robson st market. Not much of a market, but the bare & very basic food court was a goldmine! A few asian style stalls sold cultural & some modern foods. We ate at the Japanese stall and had the best meal I'd had in a long time. All the ingredients were prepared/chopped up by an elderly man & woman in the background, which was then cooked from scratch. Delicious.
Being opposite BC place, I'm guessing things would be hopping when events are held there. None while we were there, but a couple of nice restaurants/bars close by made it up for us!

“Great Hotel!! Def stay here again”

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights at the end of July. We stayed in a double room that had a shared bathroom with the room next door. We didn't have any problems with the locks like some of the reviewers - it all worked well!
The room was clean and very comfortable. Noise was not a problem. There is a laundry room and kitchen on some of the floors for everyone to use - these are kept clean. The staff were friendly and very helpful.
It is a short walk from the main action but it is a nice walk and is safe.
Overall we had no problems with the hotel and would stay here again if we ever go back to Vancouver. Very good value for money.
