We had a wedding recently in Vancouver BC. My Mother stayed at the Robsonstrasse on Robson street. This hotel was absolutely unfriendly in manner to guests. For example, there were 3 men in Tuxedos waiting in the lobby while I went to get my mother. The three well dressed and very respectable men were told to wait out side as they did not like so many people loitering in the lobby as they put it. I was then promptly told that they would kick my mother out if we had these guests up to the room as there is a strict no visitors plan in effect. What?? Totally ridiculous... I told them so and left. They then threatened my mother again when she later came back.
The second most unimpressive item is the telephone charges applied to the room. $1.50 per minute after 2 minutes it went to $2.00 per minute. This was not told to our party upon check in even after our inquiry as to how to use the room phone.

Found bug in one bed in one room, and hairs on pillow in another room (multiple rooms in our party). When confronted, housekeeping supervisor capitulated and released one of our party from their obligation to stay, they immediately checked out. Rooms appeared to be clean, but the above problems were unnerving. We were told bug was possibly a carpet beetle, but that they "only lived in the carpets and wouldn't go home with us on our luggage" (then why was it in the sheets?). Decided to stay (mistake?) in spite of this due to the hassle of changing and lugging luggage back down the tiny elevator to a taxi again, finding new accommodations, the money we'd lose as the room was already charged to our card, not to mention the "lost" day in Vancouver (our only one there). Also, saw a room rate on one of these sites saying rooms were cheap at $109, not true! We paid $184 per night! Not too happy with our travel agent...

I submitted a review last August but it was never published. I was also very surprised by these other reviews. Could not agree more with a recent review that the room itself was fairly clean, and the location is good, but the lobby, garage, elevator and hallways were really nasty. The garage (parking was free) but it is very difficult to get into a tiny parking space. The airconditioning could not keep up with cooling the room on hot summer day. The staff was very unprofessional there seem to be problem there. Would not recommend this hotel.

We chose this hotel for a week long stay (despite mixed reviews) based on the price and location. We were very pleased with the location. It was easy to get everywhere either walking or by bus and there were many places to eat within walking distance. It was close to Stanley Park and Downtown. We (two women) felt comfortable walking around at night.

The room was spacious and we appreciated having the refrigerator, sink, microwave and coffee maker (including coffee). The room was clean but the decor left something to be desired. Nothing in the lobby except tourist brochures.

Overall, would recommend this hotel to other travellers who do not require delux accommodations.
