Just returned from a 3 week tour of Canada. This was the first hotel of the trip, and what a start! The club is located within the Sheraton Wall centre, and has the use of all the Sheratons facilities. The room was a studio, recently fitted and modern in style. One wall was a floor to ceiling window, 30 floors up and looking out onto the mountains and sea as well as down to the streets
of Vancouver. You get a telescope in the room so the views can be taken in.

The bathroom was fantastic, and the kitchenette adequate for a snack and breakfast. The main shopping area is a 5 minute walk away, there is a supermarket 2 minutes away and a starbucks in the lobby!

“small room”

Stayed one night in the Sheraton Wall Centre before checking into Club Intrawest. Sheraton staff very helpful and said they would move our bags from the hotel room to Club Intrawest while we were out, which they did. We were disappointed by the size of the unit. The studio units are MOST DEFINITELY only for an adult couple. There isn't a sofa, just a single armchair, a very small (ie tiny) dining table and two chairs. Cooking facilities are just a toaster, a fridge and a coffee machine - no hob. Nice spacious bathroom. It is impossible for one person to watch TV while the other reads a book for example. It is really a hotel room with a mini-kitchen, but in spite of the size, it is ideal for a city centre location. It is right in the heart of Vancouver, and only a short walk to Robson St - the main shopping area - or to Granville Island, or slightly further to Canada Place (the cruiseship terminal). And best of all, the facilities of the Sheraton Hotel are at your disposal - free access to their gym, free access to their business centre and internet. We loved our week in Club Intrawest and would go back in a heartbeat, but this time I'd ask for a one-bedroom unit rather than a studio.

“A fine place for a pre-ski stopover”

Club Intrawest Vancouver

We went skiing in Whistler and wanted to see some of Vancouver before we went. Intrawest (who pretty much own Whistler) were quick to recommend the Club in Vancouver for obvious reasons...they own it too.

So, if arranging your ski-trip through intrawest its very convenient.

The pros:

terrific location.
magnificent jaw-dropping views from the floor-to-ceiling windows
superficially stylish bathroom and furnishings
slots in very conveniently if you are on way to or fro Whistler
the building looks extremely cool - quite fun to take a photo outside and show to friends ("we stayed there")

The cons:

despite warning them in advance it was our honeymoon we got nothing (no champagne, wine, chocolates, upgrade)

the safe in our room was broken

you don not get 24hr concierge services, although the guy we dealt with who is there for 4 hours a day was extremely helpful

the rooms "look" very nice but they have saved a bit of money in terms of quality finish - for example the fan from the bathroom was pretty noisy and you could hear other apartments when they used their showers etc.

One of the sockets was broken in our room. Generally the rooms seem a little neglected but not enough to put me off.

In summary, I would recommend staying here if it being used a bolt-hole on your way to Whistler. If your entire holiday is being spent in Vancouver then I would have reservations that you might find things to be dissapointed about. If you require a fonrt desk for lots of services then dont bother. On the other hand, if you are failry self-reliant and want somewhere romantic with amazing views for a couple of nights, in a good location then go for it.

For 2 nights it suited us very well and the critiscisms I listed above were overlooked because it wasnt the focus of our holiday...we simply en route to Whistler.

“Extremely Nice”

I work in sales in the hotel industry, and have seen many a hotel during my time. My work had arranged a night stay over the weekend. After a somewhat shaky transportation down, I walked into the Sheraton. As soon as I walked in, one of the desk agents asked me if I was Mrs. XYZ. I was pretty impressed. Check in was less then a few minutes and we received all the information we needed. (We didn't bother to know if the pool would be open, or breakfast as it was just a quick visit.) In going to my room, you need a card to get into the elevator and the Club Intrawest Members Area.

The Members Area was fantastic. There was a lounge area, binoculars, Internet and a concierge during the day. The area was tastefully decorated in Haida artwork.

The room was excellent. We had wall of floor to ceiling windows overlooking the city. The bed was amazing - very comfortable and really nice sheets. The kitchen was nice - though we didn't use it. The bathroom was also amazing - a huge walk in shower and separate area for the toilet. The complimentary soap smelled so good that I had to take it home.

Overall, I was extremely impressed with the overall experience and will definitely be coming back on my own.

“I should have known better...”

Club Intrawest Vancouver

In retrospect, the warning signs of inadequate management and poor service were there even as I researched this property. Finding a phone number for the Vancouver Intrawest was difficult. Having someone answer the phone proved impossible. I was later to learn that the "concierge", apparently the only staff member on site, leaves at 5pm (Intrawest leases 3 floors from the Sheraton. Sheraton staff do the check-in, but can't answer any questions about Intrawest rooms). I finally found a number for the Intrawest "24-hour concierge" in Whistler, who confirmed that a studio can sleep 4 (a queen bed and a pull-out couch). Upon arrival, after a lengthy wait while our room was being finished (check in is at 4:00, but our room wasn't ready until 4:30), we were shocked to see that our studio only had a queen bed. It did not even have a couch, let alone any potential for sleeping 4. Luckily the concierge was still on duty but he offered little in the way of apology and handled the situation poorly. He expressed disbelief that anyone at Intrawest had told me a studio would have a pull-out couch and couldn't believe that we had been allowed to book 4 people into a studio (our travelocity itinerary clearly showed our reservation for 2 adults and 2 kids in a studio). All he could do was move us into a new room at the Sheraton, at a higher rate. What we saw of the room was lovely, but given the inadequate staffing and management of this site, I would not risk booking here again.
