My wife and I stayed at this allocated hotel for two nights (late June 08) as part of Jonview's fly drive package tour of Canada.
We had never been to Whistler or stayed in a Delta hotel before and it was truly an amazing experience.
The hotel is basically set in two blocks with the reception, pool and one restaurant in the central area with all the two blocks of suites on either side, set on about 6 floors above. There are shops and the Garfunkels night club at street level. Parking is underground via the car park entrance opposite the hotel. We thought the cost of parking at $21 was a bit expensive (double the price of our hotel in Vancouver).
We were upgraded to a suite of the 5th floor and were in Room 1518 and it overlooked the pedestrianised Town Plaza. The suite was basically a one bedroom flat, with king size bed and tv. The bathroom was split with tub and shower and then a door into the toilet and wash basin. The kitchen was fully stocked with enough implements to self cater and there was a cupboard with a washer and stacked dryer above. The lounge area had a settee, chair, foot stool and another tv. There was also plenty of cupboard space. The room had an honesty basket of snacks and soft drinks in the fridge/freezer.
We had a complimentary continental breakfast as part of the package. The form had to be hung on the outside of the door by 2am. We felt the choice of food could have been a bit more extensive and we had to ask each day at reception, for a form.
We ate at the hotel’s Milestone restaurant one night but weren’t overly impressed with the food or décor – especially the ceiling or lack of it !! Also, you could only put the restaurant bill on your room account, if you ordered the take out direct from your room and so we had to pay in the restaurant.
There is a heated out door pool and two outside hot tubs and also a hot tub inside and sauna. Gym facilities are also available.
All the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.
The only down side was that we were awoken at about 2am on both nights from noisy revellers leaving, presumably the Garfunkels night club. If you want a quieter night, I would suggest a suite at the back overlooking the pool. The town plaza is also meant to be skateboard and cycle free with signs warning of $2,000 fines for those caught, however it didn’t seem to stop youths skateboarding etc and there was no sign of anyone enforcing this, despite the RCMP station only being 200 metres away.
There is a lot of construction work taking place in Whistler for the 2010 Winter Olympics, although it doesn’t seem to be directly affecting this hotel. However the Highway 99 between Vancouver and Whistler has construction work taking place on it, for virtually the entire length.
Warning – if you go to the top of Blackcomb mountain take warm clothing with you as it was only 2c (36f) up there in late June !!
