“Good Room and Location with Bad Food”

Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa

Jul 15, 2008

We used HHonors points for a three night stay at Whistler in early July. The property is just a few steps away from the heart of Whistler Village and it's abundance of shops and eateries. The room we were given was a 1 bedroom unit with a living room, large bathroom and full kitchen with granite counters. The room also has a fireplace that wouldn't turn on. My daughters slept well on the fold out sofa, but my wife and I found our bedroom mattress to be a little lumpy - odd for a Hilton property. The concierge was helpful on a couple of occasions as well. The only downsides to this property:
1) The Cinnamon Bear Bar and Grille was AWFUL! The service was slow and the food was top-notch horrible. We complained after we took one bite and they offered a free dessert. I declined that and they adjusted my bill in a fair manner.
2) The views from many of the rooms, including ours as a Honors Diamond VIP are not that great. There wasn't a balcony from our room either.
3) Parking was $25/daily. This is just part of vacationing of course, but still, I don't have to like it.
4) No executive lounge at this property.

“Your 'Go To" Hotel”

I have been staying at this hotel for years, it used to be the Delta Whistler. When Hilton bought the place they upgraded the whole hotel, and it is beautiful. You cannot stay at a more perfect location in Whistler. It’s beside the lifts, and right in the village. The service has always been great, no complaints ever. Great pool, gym, lobby bar, rooms. I cannot say enough. I stayed at the Fairmont, last trip (got a great deal), but wished I was back at the Hilton. Oh well, next time for sure.

“Utterly Wonderful”

Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa

My wife and I stayed for a week during April 2008 at the start of a 4 week holiday in Canada and the US. We could not have asked for a better beginning.

The hotel staff were thoroughly welcoming and accomodating. Our room was initially on a lower floor without a view of anything in particular. Upon request, we were happily moved without question to a higher floor with a view of the village. Though our luggage had already been taken to our original room, the very friendly porters took our bags to our new room smartly.

The room itself was an 'executive room', and was very big and comfortable. The kitchen was impressive with all major/necessary appliances, and bathroom large enough. The fireplace was well appreciated, and bed very comfortable.

Carrying ski boots etc through the hotel was not an issue, and the Gondolas at the base of Whistler and Blackcomb were no more than 2 or 3 minutes walk from the hotel lobby. Ski/board storage was very conveniently available next to the hotel.

After each days skiing, the staff always welcomed us back and enquired about our day. Free cookies were a nice touch also. Whirlpool/spa/sauna was clean and well kept.

We enjoyed an excellent meal one night in the hotel restaurant, and was reasonably priced after receiving percentage discount for being a hotel guest. The village has many options for dinner also.

Booked our week through Whistler.com, and received a very good price which including lift tickets and transfers from Vancouver. We recommend the Hilton Whistler to everyone and will return there when we next go skiing at Whistler.

“Nice, but still working to be better”

Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa

Jun 19, 2008

Overall: The hotel is a new modern hotel that seems to be working to impress its guests.
Check-in Check-out. No issues. Lots of free cookies at reception though.
Location: Very good location to the slopes, the driving range and just about everything else.
Facilities: The hotel is modern and spacious. It has numerous meeting facilities, a tennis court, inner courtyard, an outdoor pool (small), a spa, a bar and restaurant, internet/business facilities in the basement. It also has a self serve laundry facility near the elevator on all floors. Curious it only has two small elevators for the number of rooms. There is a hotel shuttle that can take you on some small errands. I used it once to deliver a package to mail for business reasons.
Rooms: Very spacious. Ours had a large, large closet (for ski stuff and luggage). There is a real fire place supplied with logs, a full size fridge, stove, dishwasher, dishes, cups, granite counter tops and a breakfast bar (no dining table). The room had the bed in the room with a couch and coffee table. The bathroom was clean and modern.
Dining: We dined in once and found the staff friendly and good with children (the food was a little pricy but it is so everywhere and not out of line).
Manager: Tim (don't know his last name) made every effort to greet guests (always seemed to be on duty) and even had a reception. The only incident marring our experience was during a warm spell (in July), there was a lot of people at the pool, but not enough furniture. There were two ladies who said they worked at the Hilton kitchen who had removed our gear from the chairs (one was clearly a child's possessions) and said the spots belonged to them since they were here all day. This was reported to Tim who apologized and said he would investigate.

“Good all round, no problems”

Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa

Jun 14, 2008

Had a couple of nights as part of a road trip, first impression was one of relief as the valet offered to park our rented Suburban (a good 6-8 feet longer than my own car). Front of house staff were pleasant & courteous, room was spacious, well equipped & spotless. Hotel appeared to have plenty of facilities, but we didn't use them as we believe in spending as little of our holiday as possible in the hotel - there's so much more to do, so little time! Was slightly taken aback by parking charges on checking out ($29 per night as opposed to $12 in Vancouver) but no big deal. Think Whistler is great for both the young and the young at heart, but if you're looking for a quiet break it may not be for you.
