The Holiday Inn Halifax Harbourview answers the phone by stating that it is the 'award winning' Holiday Inn. I think that that is a stretch. What did they win an award for? It is really just another Holiday Inn. First, as we found out, it is not in Halifax, but rather in Dartmouth, which is across the river. It cost $0.75 to cross the river by bridge into Halifax. No staff members told us about a ferry, so we did the drive over the bridge and had to deal with parking each time in Halifax. Second, we were on the third floor and paid the extra money for a harbor view. This was a disappointment because there wasn't much of a harbor view. The third floor was rather low, with buildings and such blocking the view and the harbor was pretty far off in the distance. Third, we ate dinner in the dinning room and the food was just average, nothing special. The breakfast buffet was less than average- your typical dry scambled eggs, sausages and bacon. We were told that the children eat for free, but they could not have the breakfast buffet free. Their choice was from a lame kid's breakfast menu, which included 1)oatmeal (from a packet (we asked)) 2) yogurt and fruit, and 3) cereal. Fourth, there was a slight error in checking us in. We reserved a harbor view and but got the keys to a standard room. We had to go back downstairs and exchange keys for another room. Of course, once we saw the 'harbor view', we probably should have just stayed in the other room! The extra money was not worth it. We would not stay here again.
