My wife and I stayed at the Best Western Chocolate lake for two days and we were completely satisfied with the experience. The rooms were spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and the view was wonderful. The front desk staff were helpful and provided maps to each of our destinations.
The hotel is conveniently located on St. Margarets Bay Road which is about a six minute drive in to downtown or a simple left turn on to the scenic highway to Peggy's Cove.
My only negative comment was trying to get food later in the evening as room service ended early. Other than that we will not hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

Spent two nights in June - very nice rooms, with a pretty view of the lake. Comfortable beds, with incredibly white comforters. Wish I had known beforehand about how to open the window, as I didn't enjoy hearing the air conditioning run all night. Service in the restaurant was very slow (food was cold when delivered) the first night, but then it was after 10 pm when we arrived. Breakfast was good and more quickly delivered the next day. The location is really excellent - right on the bus route into town ($2 to get the bus right down to the waterfront). I would definitely stay there again.

small and friendly. All rooms are recently renovated and beds are very comfy as well. Loved the view of the lake. Very recommendable.

i travel once a month on business to halifax ,i did stay with best west previously,but my third stay was a bit different, ,i booked on line as always ,while i was checking in i requested a room with 2 beds as always ,''although i requested 2 beds when i booked ,but was told when you book on line ,you don't necessary get what is requested ,so i took the room that they gave me ,when i arrived to my assigned room ,there was only 1 bed ,i go down to the desk and tell them i requested 2 beds ,they then asked me if i used the room in any way ,i assured them i only opened the door and left,they then assigned me another room ,i moved again from the eight back to the sixth floor only to find the room was occupied,and again asked if i used the room,they again gave me keys that would not open my door ,down again to the desk ,then they assigned me keys back to the 8th floor ,i go yet again to the eight floor ,finally 2 beds ''that i requested in the first place ''',after several moves of my luggage i try to settle in for some much needed rest ,only to be awake all night by party people ,after 2 calls to the front desk ,i was told, we had security on that floor all evening ,and i don't understand why you were put on a party floor,needlesly to say when i checked out very early the next morning ,i did tell them ,i would not be returning ,i did phone the #for best western ,i understand that chocolate lake in halifax is a franchise ,what was obcene to me ,no apology,i was told after my complaint i would be hearing from best western by e-mail or by telephone ,i heard nothing! needlesly to say ,i opperate a fine motel on'' the world's famous cabot trail,' and will be advising people not to stay at best west ,chocolate lake !!!!!!!!!!
