Camelot Inn

4 of 5 stars
Hershey, Pennsylvania
Mar 11, 2008

A group of friends and I stayed at this hotel, we LOVED it. The room smelled a little musted when we first got there like it wasnt used in awhile but we got over that fast. We had a family jacuzzi room which was nice, a lot of room to move around and put your bags. All the staff was incredibly nice. (Considering we are all in our early twenties) We are planning another trip again within the next month. I HIGHLY recommend this place if your not looking for a Hilton or anything like that.

“Something dodgy”

Camelot Inn

Aug 16, 2007

There is clearly something dodgy or malicious going on here with some of these ratings.

We have just returned from two nights here. We were a bit wary having booked and then we read of the 'terrible' conditions.

Apart from a noisy air conditioner we had no complaints. There is NOT a Hooters establishment...it's an advertising hoarding across the street.

The room was clean, so were the towels. Big deal...the remote didn't work but the TV had buttons and what the hell are you doing watching TV anyway when one of the greatest sights in the world is not too far away?

The bedding was perfectly decent.

My wife and I booked a 2 night stay at the Camelot inn on Stanley Avenue in Niagara Falls Ontario. Upon arrival we were greeted by a terribly rude desk clerk. Next we were utterly horrified to find that the room we booked was a filthy disgusting mess. We paid 305 dollars for a Friday and Saturday night stay, in what we believed to be a queen bed room when in actuality what we got was a very small room with a double ( not queen ) sized bed, an ancient noisy air conditioner, a television with a remote control that didnt work, dirty pet urine stained furniture, a non smoking room that reeked of stale cigarette smoke, a bathroom that was not sanitary or clean with a leaky sink drain moldy ceramic tile grout and a faucet that had dried toothpaste on it. Not to mention the used kleenex box with some sort of insect larvae growing in it, and the disgustingly filthy carpeting. Bed linens were not decent quality. When I confronted the desk clerk about the bed not being queen sized his response was " all our rooms have queen sized beds in them ", maybe he doesnt know the difference which is no excuse. We asked for our money back so we could seek more suitable clean up to date lodging and he refused. All in all my wife and I would say that our stay at the Camelot Inn was a nightmare. We departed the hotel at 3 AM on Sunday morning because we could no longer stand the hiddeous stench of the room we were given. We also found there to be security issues as the parking area was overrun with unruly drunken hotel patrons. Anyone seeking lodging at the Camelot or any other bargain hotel would be wise to travel west on Ferry St. as we found much better accomodations in that area.

“Run Down Mess”

Camelot Inn

Jul 24, 2007

My husband an myself spent the most uncomfotable night at thisshabby, run down motel in Niagra. We booked through a travel agent and although we realised we would not get a four star place for the price we paid we at least expected it to be clean.
On arrival, at first glance it looked ok as we just rushed in to leave our baggage and head off to sightsee. when we got back at night we noticed the dirty carpet with cigarette burns and also a cigarette burn on the bed linen. I was unable to sleep in the bed as I felt it was not too clean and spent the most rotten night of our stay in Canada sitting up reading. The bath in the toilet of the room was very chipped and unusable.
My tip to any visitor to this motel is DON'T. Much better to pay a little extra cash for a decent hotel.

“A fair accomodation for budget travellers”

Camelot Inn

3 of 5 stars
Montréal, quebec
Jul 24, 2007

We looked up Camellot inn on internet and was attracted by its low rates. Its the first motel as you enter the Niagara Tourist centre on Stanley avenue. We were offered a Queen bed with jaccuzzi for $99/night bcoz front desk claimed there were no std rooms left even if 8 hrs before leaving home we checked on internet to be informed that 17 std rooms were vacant. ADVICE: try to book online for the room u afford in case they lie about vacancy to to sell you more expensive rooms! But we admit we bargained a lower rate than what we had to pay online for the offer we got in person. And ask to see the room before you pay, and don't hesitate to say that you would like to shop around before coming back. We were too anxious of not getting any more cheap deals that we took the first motel se saw. later on, we saw a lot more attractive rates with better appearances along Stanley Avenue and Clifton Hill.

Overall,I would praise Camellot Inn's cleanliness. And I believe not all rooms are the same, bcoz our Queen with jaccuzzi was nothing like the advertised photos. It seems they do have more spacious rooms for all 3 types.

We wouldn't mind staying at Camellot's inn again, but we would like to explore other motels if we go again.

POSITIVE:
The bed and pillows were very confortable. The room and toilet were very clean. They provide adequate towels, for the jaccuzzi and the shower and housekeeping do pass by bcoz we got used towels replaced with clean ones. TV had ample U.S and Canadian channels we usually get at home, to suit all tastes. Even if the motel is located by the road side, it is very much soundproof after closing the room door.

NEGATIVE:
Our room was very tight, our bed was a few inches from the door! The room still smelled of cigarrette smoke over the airfreshner used by housekeeping. I was a bit claustrophobic, bcoz added to the tightness, there was only a tiny glass window that is not operable. So ventilation was a big problem especially after running the jaccuzzi, and we were tempted to use it only once bcoz in summer it doesn't do much using a jaccuzzi inside a matchbox! But if we open the door for a bit of ventilation, all the noise from the traffic gets in bcoz the motel is located by the road side. I would reccommend re-servicing where needed. The jaccuzzi, drawers and A/C were worn out.
Internet was ONLY one desk for all guests and 15 minutes allowed per person. At the time i was staying it was out of order!
