“The Jewel in the Crown”

Abacot Hall Bed & Breakfast

May 14, 2008

Having stayed at many fine B & Bs in NOTL over the last 30 years we never expected to discover one that stood head and shoulders above the rest. Abacot Hall does just that. The first thing that impressed us on our arrival was the warm welcome extended by Pauline to each member of our party of 4. She made us all feel as if we were old friends reuniting after a long absence. Others have written lengthy reviews about the accommodations and array of amenities offered by this outstanding B & B so I will not repeat them here. Suffice to say that I agree entirely with those reviews. I do feel compelled, however, to add that Chef Mike possesses exceptional cuisinary skills. Having made our breakfast choices from a very varied and unique menu, Mike served up the most sumptuous breakfast we have ever had at any establishment in NOTL. Abacot Hall is a must for anyone wanting to experience the very best in B & Bs.

We really enjoyed our time here. Really well organised and well run place, good food and plenty of it. Beautifully appointed house, and great value. Our hosts were so friendly, with plenty of time for chat, and tips about enjoying the area. Highly recommended.

“A+ for Abacot”

My partner and I were in NOTL to see two Shaw Festival plays and we decided to book our accommodation at Abacot Hall for May 6th and 7th. We were very happy that we did so as Pauline and Mike are friendly and considerate hosts who have guest needs in mind. We stayed in the Queen Victoria room which faces on to the backyard and receives the morning sunlight. While it may not be the biggest room I think it was the best of the three because of the eastern exposure. We also booked the dinner package (a two night stay that included a 3 course dinner at the Stone Road Grille (a mere 200 metres from the B&B) which was also an excellent choice as the food was delicious and beautifully presented. This B&B is quite popular (we stayed the week before high season and all three rooms were occupied during our stay), so book well in advance to avoid disappointment. Here are a few specific reasons why Abacot Hall B&B deserves an A+:
*Immaculately clean accommodation
*There is a pantry outside the bedrooms where guests can make coffee, tea, herbal tea or hot chocolate (all provided by Abacot Hall) and also located there is a small fridge for guest use. This was particularly important for me as I have some food allergies and it was great to be able to refrigerate some foods that I brought from home.
*Just off the pantry is a lovely balcony that has east and some south exposure. It is the perfect place to sit in the morning and read the paper or listen to the birds.
*Every room was equipped with a DVD player and there was an assortment of DVD's available for guest use.
*A gas fireplace in the downstairs guest livingroom was a nice touch especially for those chilly Spring days.
*A great deal of choice at breakfast whether I wanted a little bite to eat or a big hearty breakfast. Mike and Pauline make homemade bread and while I couldn't indulge, my partner assured me it was delicious.
*On-site parking
*Helpful hosts. While we were there, another guest had some difficulty with her car (a leaky tire). Mike suggested a trustworthy place where she could take her car and Pauline offered to drive her to the theatre if the car wasn't going to be ready in time. They also have plenty of suggestions as to what to see and do in the Niagara region for travellers new to the area and they are ready to make arrangements or bookings on behalf of their guests.

“Perfect place to spend the night!”

Abacot Hall Bed & Breakfast

Apr 29, 2008

My friend and I had such an amazing time both by ourlseves and in the company of our hosts. Our rooms were clean and comfortable and the house itself is beautiful. I have to admit my favorite thing was breakfast. The dining area was so cute and the food was delightful. Also having bikes at our disposal was so convenient when it came to biking to different wineries. I will definitely go back again.

“The Best Part of Our Visit to NOTL!”

Abacot Hall Bed & Breakfast

Detroit, MI

Abacot Hall is a beautifully furnished B&B, and Pauline and Mike were wonderful hosts. They are knowledgeable, friendly, genuine people, and the house and room we stayed in were charming. Also, Mike makes a terrific breakfast! After visiting the Festival Theatre, the downtown area, Niagara Falls, and various wineries, my husband and I agreed that Abacot Hall was our favorite part of our weekend in NOTL. Can't recommend it enough!
