I travell to Ottawa on Business very often, for the price, location and comfort of home, this is always my number one pick.
I have never had a bad room, staff is great.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights during a recent trip to Ottawa.
It is located in a trendy area just blocks from the Parliament Buildings and the market, we were able to walk everywhere. The hotel has large rooms, great service, and we really enjoyed the pool and fitness areas. We'll be back.

My family and I recently stayed here for my sister's wedding. Though the furnishings are a bit dated, I have no other major complaints. The rooms were incredibly spacious, as well as the balcony. The kitchens are very well stocked with everything you'd need, and the rooms were clean.

The first morning we were there, we were woken up by jackhammering from the parking garage (pretty impressive considering we were on the fourth floor). The parking garage is extremely tight and difficult to navigate, but I hope that the current renovations will address that. We had a few instances of getting stuck both inside and outside the garage, but these were not major, and the staff was very apologetic.

For the price, you can't beat the location. The hotel is within all the major attractions (Parliament, Byward Market, Rideau Centre, National Art Centre).

I would definitely suggest bypassing the hotel restaurant as both times we tried it (both times for breakfast), the service was sloppy and the food sub-par). There are tons of other restaurants in the area (the one on the nearest corner has great burgers!) that are worth a visit.

I found the Cartier Place via the Internet. I was going to Ottawa for a Martial arts tournament and wanted to stay in a central place. The hotel is well appointed, neat and clean. (even has a bed sanitizer service) After staying at hotels throughout the US recently it was refreshing to stay at a hotel with lots of space.

Space is particularly important to me because I need to practice my karate moves and the main gym is not really appropriate for that. Since the Cartier Place is a "Suite" hotel, that is a replacement for your home, it has a big living room as well as dining area. I used that area to practice. Since there is a couch and TV, one could use that area for sitting around too!

Best of all there is a full kitchen with a full size fridge, microwave, dish washer and coffee machine. It is great to have that stuff, even if you are only there for a few days cause it saves you money if you can go out and get some drinks or a microwave dish to cook. You can even store your big pizza box in the fridge and warm it up the following day. Cant do that with a mini fridge. Very handy, and all for the price of a regular room at another hotel.

Having the space and the kitchen stuff is a real bonus so I will stay there every time I go to Ottawa.
