I stayed at the Days Hotel with my wife for 7 nights (21-28 June). Hotel ideally situated with subway station approx 200m away and streetcars passing the door. The hotel is only a 10-15 minute walk from Toronto’s major shopping centre (Eaton Centre) and surrounding bars, clubs and more shops.
Although signs were displayed everywhere that the hotel is undergoing refurbishment there were no obvious disruptions or indications of ongoing works. The reception, restaurant and room (1907) were immaculately clean and well maintained.
Nice sized indoor swimming pool, sauna and fitness centre on the 6th floor also giving access to a sun decked area. The pool at this hotel also lacks proper changing room facilities / lockers that seem to be typical of the hotels on this trip. Also pool towels have to be collected from reception – a bit of a bug-bear having to queue when they are extremely busy checking people in/out of the hotel!
Recommend the hotel’s buffet breakfast for approx $14CAD but the hotel’s Windows restaurant has only a very limited menu for lunch/dinner. We ate a couple of times at the Mick E Fynns bar across the road from the hotel where the choices were plentiful, prices reasonable and the food excellent.
One quirk that we discovered was that most of the hotel floors only have a down button on the elevators; therefore if you go down a floor or two to use the ice machine / laundry etc. you either have to use the stairs to go back up or go all the way down to the lobby to go back up again! We were on the 19th floor and this became a minor inconvenience is an otherwise excellent hotel!
Overall it was an excellent value for money stay and we would definitely stay again when in Toronto. Best hotel by far of the three hotels used on this trip.
