St Patrick's has a beautiful and unusual interior. You can actually smell how old it is. The high alter is entirely monochromatic in carved wood; oak perhaps and has a lovely old hanging lamp overhead. Saints cover the side windows. It's worthwhile to attend Mass here if you are Catholic (or even if you aren't) to experience the Basilica fully. I understand the interior of the church has been recently restored to it's full beauty. I wanted to go there out of reverance for the Canadian-Irish politician Thomas D'arcy Mcgee who attended this church and whose funeral took place here in 1868; a bit of Canadian history.

You can't miss this basilica, it may not look fancy, but it was beautiful on the inside. You would think the inside of the basilica would be dreary like most, but it was actually bright. There was a high decorated altar, but what captured my attention the most was the hand painted pictures of the saints that line everyside of the church, there had to be more the 100 portraits.This basilica is Irish so it was easier for me to get information about it in English. In my opinion it was slightly more appealing then Notre-Dame.
