“Nice, simple place in the middle of absolutely nowhere.”

Four Points by Sheraton Montreal Airport

My experience with the hotel itself was positive. The staff were friendly, the room (standard) was very pleasant (and had the largest pillows I've ever seen -- I was expecting the Chechire Cat to pop out and start smiling at me). To my knowledge, all rooms have a minibar, which is something that other hotels (e.g. Delta) can make note of.

The location of the hotel -- with respect to the airport -- is great. It's about a 10 minute shuttle (this shuttle is not easy to find on first visit though, so ask the information counter person on the arrivals level). The shuttle also leaves the hotel as early as 4:30am, which is great for people who are taking early international flights.

The location of the hotel -- with respect to anything worth experiencing around the hotel -- is quite bad. This obviously isn't the fault of the hotel; they can't control the infrastructure around, and I'm sure if they had their way, the immediate surroundings would be overflowing with restaurants and other things.

But with that being said: the space around this hotel is desolate. It's beyond simply being "not downtown Montreal." Many Toronto airport hotels are located in Mississauga (where the airport actually is), and there is some stuff around these hotels. But around the Sheraton Montreal Airport there is....nothing. There is one generic 'eat a 50lb steak, don't die, and win your meal' type of restaurant across the street, but aside from that, there is nothing.

I didn't know this, and again, while I'm not blaming the hotel at all, it is a factor that has since influenced my decision on where to stay in Montreal. So for those of you who care do to anything outside of the hotel and don't want to make a 'trip' out of it, I suggest you choose another hotel. But for those who just need a quiet, simple, clean and good quality place to chill between flights or something like that, then this is a good place to stay.

“Nice family hotel”

Four Points by Sheraton Montreal Airport

4 of 5 stars
Highland Park, NJ
Jul 8, 2007

Our family stayed here for 4 days, and found the hotel to be fine. The highlight is the pool and water slide which my children used as often as possible. Though it was closed when we arrived on Sunday evening and one of the weekdays we were there (for cleaning), it was great way to end our days.

Everything else was fine. This is an upgraded Four Points property near the airport (though I couldn't really hear them despite seeing them landing from our window - a nice plus), so downtown is several minutes away. However, major roads are easily accessible from this property, and getting around is easy.

we arrived to the hotel at 10pm so as soon as we been to our room there was a bad smelling and as we was traveling all day long we decided to sleep, next day we wake up at 8am in the morning and we went out at that time, after we spend all day long out of the hotel when we get to our room we decide to make a call but our telephone wong work so I came down to the front desk and KEVIN told that I need to leave my credit card to have the access in my room and as I was there I asked to him the rate per minute to call to mexico and his asnwer was that hi dosen`t have that information and to know how much is it I need to call for a minute and he will be able to see how much is the charge into my room account, my wife came down and she was asking why we need to leave our credit card information to make a simple call, even for local calls and if somebody from mexico wanted to call us we never are going to get that call becouse the telephone was dead, so we want to exchance some money to make the call in any of the pay phones that they have but SABRINA at the front desk told that she dosen`t have any chance...WOW, what a fiasco, ADELMO (security manager) was the one that went to our room and after he reconfirm what we said at the front desk he told us that we receibed a room that is out of service and also that needs several repers, the lamp was burned, there is not a minibar etc etc etc. so he moved us to another room and this new room it is the one that we paid for.
NO BODY CHECK THE ROOM BEFORE THE GUEST ARRIVE?
ERIKA was WONDERFUL she gave us a lot of service, she was helping us to make the famus call from the pay phone, she spended an hour with us trying to help us up, and do you know her position? SHE CLEANS THE HOTEL it is AMAZING how people with a better attitude can make the thinks happends this lady and the grasskeeper(a colombian man) most be a the front desk instead of KEVIN and SABRINA.

I don`t really know how the AAA says that this is nice place to stay, however I can say that this place to good but can be a better hotel giving HOSPITALITY to their guest. MAKE REPEATERS IS GOOD DON`T YOU THINK?

“What a Party!”

Four Points by Sheraton Montreal Airport

2 of 5 stars

We wanted a place to stay for our last night in Montreal that was close to the airport.

When we arrived on the Sunday of the May long weekend, there were 2 weddings, 2 bar mitzvahs and 1 communion celebration going on. The lobby was packed and noisy. But it didn't bother us as we felt like we were in on the celebration!

The biggest dissapointment was that the pool closed at 6pm on Sunday. Our kids were crushed. It is a very nice pool. But there were no towels left and several attempts to get more failed.

One of the parties was held in the family restaurant so it was closed. We had to eat in a place they set up in the hallway. But the food was very good.

Things were quiet when we went to sleep but the parties found their way upstairs. Not good when you have to get up early for a flight the next morning.

Overall, the hotel seemed to concentrate on the events than the guests. Probably more profitable but not good if you are a traveller looking for a quiet place to spend the night.

“Great short stay family hotel”

Four Points by Sheraton Montreal Airport

5 of 5 stars
Ottawa, Canada
May 16, 2007

We (two adults, 6 and 4 year old) stayed in January 2007 for one night before our trip south and again for one night upon our return.

We arrived in Dorval via the train, called the hotel and their shuttle picked us up within 15 minutes. The hotel itself was clean and the lady at the front desk was very nice. She checked us in, made restaurant reservations and booked our shuttle to the airport for the following morning. There was a basket of green apples in the front foyer for visitors (more on that later).

That evening we used their pool, which is a good size and has a lifeguard, but it also has a water slide and it is a blast. My kids had a great time on it and we stayed at the pool until it closed.

Beds were extremely comfortable.

Ate at the breakfast buffet which was a good price and then took the shuttle to the airport exactly when it was scheduled.

When we came back we arrived at the hotel at about 1:00 A.M. After 2 weeks in Cuba both of my kids were dying to have an apple, so they were looking forward to getting to the hotel so they could get one. When we arrived the ran through the doors to the basket only to find that it was empty. They were both disappointed. When I was checking in, the lady at the front desk asked me what they were upset about so I told her.

About 5 minutes after we got into our room there was a knock on the door. I guess the lady at the front desk told the manager about the apples, because there he was with two oranges in hand for my kids. He said that he had gone back to check the kitchen but there were no more apples. He hoped that the kids would be happy with the oranges. I was floored by the thoughfulness.

The shuttle back to the train station was bang on again.

This is now my hotel of choice when travelling out of Dorval and I have referred a number of other families who now share my enthusiam for this hotel.

I look forward to my next visit.
