Named the "Quality Suites", my room was neither a suite or of a good quality. No kitchenette, no microwave, no kettle, etc. In fact, no closet or wardrobe either - just a very small rail above the bed.

The hotel's location is awful. Advertised as a downtown hotel, the Quality Suites is far from downtown Quebec City. Walking is not even an option, buses are not available - taking more than one hour and two changes to end up at the retail park still some distance from the hotel. Usually a hotel this far from a city center would offer a complimentary shuttle bus for guests - this one does not. So it costs more than $20 each way for a taxi from either the train station or downtown to the hotel - you do the math... to the hotel from the station, into the city and back for a day of sightseeing, into the city and back for a night out, and returning to the station the next day... grand total more than $100 USD. At one point I forgot my camera and going back to get it wasn't even an option at that cost!

Don't even think about staying at this awful hotel unless you have a car. I could have stayed in the city center for $60 a night, and that would have been a huge saving on the travel costs here.

The complimentary breakfast consists of one bagel or one muffin or some toast - these rations carefully dispensed by hotel staff.

There is no ATM at the hotel. There is no restaurant at the hotel or food room service - I did venture out to the 'nearby' shopping mall but didn't make it there as it was too dark and there were no sidewalks - very dangerous.

The shower had very little water pressure and the soap was tiny, dissolving in my hand.

Overall, this is the worst hotel I have stayed in and I wouldn't wish it on anyone else.

The Suites are great. Clean and very accomodating with the bedroom separated with french doors from the living room that has a sofabed. This hotel is very busy with groups. The breakfast room is pretty and you can bring your continental breakfast (toasts, bagels, cereals, coffee, tea, milk or juice) in your suite.
I highly recomend it for family too. You are only 15 minutes drive to the Montmorency Falls and dtwn old Quebec city.

Agree with the review above [ "very nice" Oct. 27, 2003 ], we stayed in the same type of room. Miss Shirley at the front desk was very helpful and pleasant. The room was large and quiet, clean and well furnished. We got it for $45 a night on priceline.
It is only about 7 miles from downtown Old Quebec City, right on the Autoroute, you can be there in less than 10 minutes. We were there for the summer festival, which was great. Took the bus into town one day, easy enough , but you have to do one transfer. We drove on the other days, since there are plenty of small parking lots in and near the old city for about $5-$7 canadian per 12 hours, this was fairy cheap and quite convenient. Staying in a hotel in/near the old city would be much more expensive, so we liked this deal, used the "difference" in price for meals and entertainment. Parking at this hotel is free and plentiful. We would stay here again, in fact would prefer to do so.

Each year, for 3 years now, we stay at the Quality Suites Québec during the holidays and we are very pleased with the rooms. We always get a suite with a seperate bedroom, a living area and the bathroom. In the living area, you get a sofabed that my son use (almost 4 now), and a regular sized table with 4 chairs. It's great to have breakfast. You also have a small fridge and a sink. In the bedroom, you find a King size bed, a vanity/ closet area and a tv. These suites are just big enough for the 3 of us. We appreciate the fact that we sleep in two different rooms, divided by french doors.

The rooms are always very clean and we have no complains about it. The room is cleaned every day and we always have clean towels. No need to call the reception or anything like that.

It's also nice that they offer a continental breakfast. The staff has always been very nice.

The location is perfect. It's right beside the shopping center "Galeries de la Capitale". You just have to walk across the parking lot and you're there. And, being located right beside highway 40 (Autoroute de la Capitale), it's very easy to get everywhere in the city. And it's not far from the ski area also.
