We looked online for a B&B in Quebec City and came across the website for l'Augustine, an old-world style stone B&B tucked away on a side street near, well, everything! We booked in advance for Carnival, the winter 'fair' in Quebec City, and for 3 days had an absolutely perfect time. One of the biggest attractions of 400-year-old Quebec City is its heritage buildings, and we loved the black stone walls and original plank floors of our rooms, it really is different than a 'modern' hotel and was absolutely wonderful - it was what we really wanted to experience. This centuries-old building has been updated with all modern facilities but without losing its heritage charm. We had the suite, which gave us a living room, fridge, tv, and even our own entrance! Caroline, the proprietor of L'Augustine, made us feel at home and prepared huge scrumptious breakfasts of homemade yogourt and fruit, crepes with real maple syrup, French-press coffee... yum! We always left the table stuffed and happy, ready to see the city.
We can't wait to go back, as it was January when we were there and there is a huge garden behind the house that we want to see in the summertime!
We would recommend L'Augustine to anyone who wants to experience the true hospitality of Old Quebec.

“Cozy Place to stay”

My 4 year old and I stayed here for 3 days last month, and this was the first time we stayed at a b & b for so long. The house was very old, so the floors are wooden and the windows are open always with no screens on them. The house is decorated such so that there are few modern elements to the room, so there are no clocks, radios, tv, etc. The location is great, just 2 blocks from Place D'Youville and to all the main attractions. And, the owners are awesome, and the breakfast every morning was really nice. The only concern was that the tv they did have was really old and had few channels- only because I had a child with me that wanted to watch tv sometimes, so we hooked up a VCR for her.
So, if you want all those extra amenities like clocks, cable tv, etc, I recommend the suites that cost more ( prices still reasonable, even in old Quebec) or stay somewhere else. Personally, I really enjoyed the experience of living in a historic building and I woulkd like to stay there again.

“Pleasant place to stay”

For our first trip in Canada, this B&B was the first in where we stayed. We stayed there for 4 nights.
First time also for us to get into a B&B. And what a amazing surprise !! Good place and few rates, we pay about 387$ CAD (taxes included) for 3 nights in a room with shared bathroom and a night in the suite room.

The location is very great, near the center of Quebec (5 min walk) by the near street St Jean which is very animated, in that to find a bar or restaurant. The street Richelieu where the B&B is very quiet.

The hosts Caroline & Kamal are very welcoming and nice. They made each morning the breakfast wich own-made yougourts, pancakes and fruits. The morning is a great moment to talk with the nice hosts and other tourists. Breakfast is copious.

You could park your car in the B&B for 5 $CAD a day. (max 3 cars). Some rooms gives view on the street, some others on the small garden (where you could have your breakfast when the wheather is warm).

great place ! i loved it.

This B&B is definitely a labor of love by its proprietors - Kamal and Caroline. The place oozes with charm and hospitality. The location is superb, as it is within 5 minutes (by foot) of the walls of the Old City. Rue St. Jean, one of the city's main streets is around the corner, so one is afforded both the convenience of a nearby busy street chockfull of restaurants, shops and cafes, and the tranquility of a quieter street (where the B&B stands). Breakfasts are fabulous - homemade yogurt, crepes, and other good old-fashioned French/Quebecois treats. Also, the big breakfast table gives one the opportunity to meet and chat with the b&b's other clients about the sights and sounds of the city (in French or in English)! My stay at the l'Augustine was definitely part of the rich cultural experience that I enjoyed while visiting Quebec City.
