We looked online for a B&B in Quebec City and came across the website for l'Augustine, an old-world style stone B&B tucked away on a side street near, well, everything! We booked in advance for Carnival, the winter 'fair' in Quebec City, and for 3 days had an absolutely perfect time. One of the biggest attractions of 400-year-old Quebec City is its heritage buildings, and we loved the black stone walls and original plank floors of our rooms, it really is different than a 'modern' hotel and was absolutely wonderful - it was what we really wanted to experience. This centuries-old building has been updated with all modern facilities but without losing its heritage charm. We had the suite, which gave us a living room, fridge, tv, and even our own entrance! Caroline, the proprietor of L'Augustine, made us feel at home and prepared huge scrumptious breakfasts of homemade yogourt and fruit, crepes with real maple syrup, French-press coffee... yum! We always left the table stuffed and happy, ready to see the city.
We can't wait to go back, as it was January when we were there and there is a huge garden behind the house that we want to see in the summertime!
We would recommend L'Augustine to anyone who wants to experience the true hospitality of Old Quebec.
