Physically, this is a very nice hotel with some great amenities. I have not tried the spa services, so I can't comment on those, but the mineral pool could be very relaxing if not for the screaming, splashing children that seem to be there everytime I go. Familes tend to use this pool alot as children 5 and under get in free. I have no idea why anyone would want to take a small child in a 42C pool as it's widely known to be unhealthy for them.
The last time we went, my husband and I drove in from Regina for a relaxing day in the spa and ended up staying only about 35 minutes because the noise level in the pool area was causing me to get a migraine. Several children were diving into the pool and splashing everyone. Many people were trying to relax to no avail while the boorish parents just ignored their progeny. Lifeguards made no attempt to contain the running, splashing, screaming kids. The pool is a large area and the noise just echoed. Note to parents: a spa pool is not an appropriate venue for loud, unruly children. There are indoor and outdoor public pools elsewhere that are intended for kids (and are not kept at 42C), please use them.
This is not the first time something like this has happened but it was the last time for us. We haven't been back for over a year and will likely not go again. Disappointing, since we used to go at least 2 or 3 times a month.
Also, the food at Harwood's is touch and go. I have had anything from mediocre pasta dishes to an inedible, shoe leather tough piece of low quality breaded pork cutlet. Yuck. I haven't been back there either.
This could be a very nice spa. The facility is nice, there is a small casino and various other interesting attractions nearby; but until they get the details in order, I'd spend my money elsewhere.
