“Several problems”

Tahoe Beach and Ski Club

We stayed at the Tahoe Beach and Ski Club in January and although the snow was great for sbowboarding at Heavenly, our stay at the club left a lot to be desired. I should have known things weren't going to go well right from the check-in. Our stay was supposed to be Friday to Friday, but I called and told them we were arriving on Saturday. When I went to check in, I was told that someone else had checked in under our room as there were several names listed for that reservation. We have a timeshare that I traded through The Registry Collection and then they deal with RCI. The hotel said that RCI was the one who made the error, but he couldn't give me a room until he called them to figure out what to do. We had just been in a car for 8 hours with 3 children and this was not what I wanted to hear. They had us go to their game room and wait until he could contact someone. I finally went back to the lobby and he said that he was ready to check me in, only what we had booked was a 1 bedroom townhouse, he said we were supposed to just have a regular 1 bedroom room. I gave up arguing because we just wanted to get in our room and have dinner. The room was OK, had the basics. The tiny kitchenette was nicly stocked though. A couple days later, the card keys wouldn't let us in the building and it was snowing and windy outside. When I went to the front desk, he insisted that the keys worked and sent me back to try again. I finally found a maintenance person and showed him that our keys wouldn't open the door and he agreed so we had to trek it back to the office to get new card keys. This happened twice in a week which was very annoying and frustrating. The maid service is only once a week and I put up the sign for early maid service. We got back around 4pm and no one had come in. She finally knocked on the door around 5:30pm and I asked if she could just come back the next day because we were all back. The one positive thing was it was nice and warm in the building and the room. We didn't need to use the heater at all. Even on the day we were checking out, which the time wasn't until 11am, we got a call from housekeeping around 10am wanting to know if we were leaving soon. I know we won't go back to this place. The staff was just not helpful and I didn't feel they wanted to help us at all.

“Nice Rooms... Bad Service”

We visited this property early Jan. 2008. The weather was horrible and we arrived around 11 PM to check in. The front desk agent was rude and did not even ask if we needed help to our room. It was snowing outside and our room was in a building away from the front desk. The rooms were nice, it was convenient that they have a kitchenette. We had a question and called the front desk. They never answered. When I got hope, I saw they charged my credit card MORE than I had signed to authorize. Had to call them and figure it out. It's a nice place but the service and management are far from being acceptable.

“TERRIBLE! Thought we slept on the expressway”

We traded our Mariott time share for this "resort". This place looks like a hotel room. We did have the effency room, which was clean and stocked as you would expect. The problem was there is no air-conditioning and no windows. They put us on the street side which is Hwy 50. You had to sleep with the sliding glass door open to get any air movement as the fan alone did not do it and was very noisy, too. The traffic does not stop! There were no activities to the resort. The pool is run down. We did sit on the beach which was nice. If I had gone there to spend any time at the resort it would have been very disappointing but we spent time with friends at their home. We ate breakfast and slept at the resort. I would never go to this resort again. Tahoe is a great place to visit but there are many better choices for a place to stay. We will go back to the area but never to the same place to stay!

“Decent Rooms, Poor Service”

Tahoe Beach and Ski Club

Our first impression of this place was a very accurate foreshadowing of our stay to come. As soon as we arrived, the people at the check-in desk were extremely rude, and it took them about 30 minutes to check us in. We got to the rooms and they were decent (pretty spacious, the basic amenities). Sure this resort offers plenty of amenities (pool, jacoozi, work-out room) however they are beset with unreasonable rules and regulations and cannot be used for many hours of a day. First of all, the main recreation room (pool table, foosball table, big screen TV) and the main workout room have operating hours from 10am to 10pm. I was expecting these to be loosely enforced and wanted to use the pool table at 10:15 PM. THEY LOCK THE DOORS at exactly 10PM so nobody can workout or use the recreation room after that time. I decided that i would use the outdoor jaccoozi/pool, only to find out that the jaccoozi gate is also locked at exactly 10PM. I would have gone in anyway if there was not a guard patrolling the premises and enforcing these rules. To top it all off, (even though i am not a smoker) they have extremely strict smoking policies. This means, that even outside of the building (in the parking lot or in the gardens) they will fine you 300 dollars for smoking. I witnessed someone get in trouble for smoking in the parking lot and almost receive that 300 dollar fine. The location was good and the rooms are decently equipped (towels, plates, silverware, coffee) however the service is extremely lacking. If you plan on falling asleep by 10 pm every single night and have no problem dealing with a rude concierge then you would have no problem staying here. Otherwise, I would avoid this place for the many other hotels in the area.

“DIsappointing!”

Tahoe Beach and Ski Club

2 of 5 stars
Temple City, California
Nov 4, 2007

We booked this unit based on the photos supplied by the hotel of the 2 bedroom units. However the one bedroom "suite" we got was simply a converted motel room. The kitchen is totally inadequate and shouldn't even be advertised as such. The rug, furnishings and fixtures are worn and threadbare and the tv is too small for viewing unless you sit very close.

Having said all that, the staff was extremely pleasant and professional and it does have a great private beach. However for a one bedroom unit I'd look elsewhere.
