I stayed there kinda off-season for $50 a night so for that money the place was nice. It's true that it needs renovation especially in the bathrooms, but at least everything worked and was clean. I didn't have problems during the stay, didn't see any bugs, the room was quite big for the price and each has a balcony facing the lake, which you almost cannot see from the biuldings in front, but still you could see the hills on the side and overall was a OK view.
The hotel's location is probably the best thing about it, it's right on the major road through the village; it boasts proximity to the beach, but in reality it's a private beach where you cannot stay :), still, many restaurants, gas stations and shops nearby, casinos are only 3-5 min drive away. Don't know how this hotel compares to others during summer and ski season, but for 50 bucks it's worth it.

This motel was not impressive from a aesthetic perspective (bathroom was run down, even had a chunk of the door molding missing, but for the price, it was sufficient), however what impressed me was their customer service. I woke up at 11:30 am on Sunday, too hung over to move, so I called the front desk and asked what time check out was: "Noon", he said. "Is there anyway to get an extention on that?" I asked. "How long do you need?" "Like, a couple of hours..." "Well," he said, "I cant give you that long, because I need to get the rooms clean, but I can give you an hour." "That's fine." I said. "Can I get a towel?" (because my husband had somehow used EVERY towel in the room) "Sure", he said, "I'll send someone right over with one." And sure enough, the maid came about 10 minutes later with a couple of towels. I was ever so gratefull...

We stayed at the Super 8 South Lake Tahoe having made a quick reservation online, worrying that everything would be booked up. The Super 8 makes a decent presentation from the road, the office is not bad. The staff were reasonably friendly and effecient, although sadly uninformed about how/where guests at the Super 8 could get access to the beach and about 4th of July fireworks display. They did recommend a decent pizza place nearby. The room was well worn, oldish, and out of date. The bed was huge and was to my liking in firmness. It was almost impossible to find an electrical outlet to recharge my cell phone. No phone book. Stained grout in the shower. The hot water faucet in the vanity provided only a tiny stream of hot water that required time and patience to get a wash cloth wet enough to wash my face. In general, this motel room was about what you expect of a $40 per night room. Only probably was that the room was $116 per night.

My fiance and I stayed for one night at the Super 8 in South Lake Tahoe in April 06 as part of a 3 week budget trip around California. We were only in Lake Tahoe as the road through Yosemite was closed and we used Lake Tahoe as a place to break up the long long drive we had to do. As we were only there for one night we were only interested in staying somewhere very cheap - the Super 8 was great for the cheap price we paid. The rooms were big and clean and there was plenty of parking. It is in a great location right on the main road that goes around the lake and close to plenty of restaurants and shops.

Our only complaint was that there was a group of people up partying till 3am in the morning and were only quiet after the staff had told them to be quiet three times which was after us complaining twice. That said on any other night there might only be quiet people and it would have been fine.

Would stay here again.
