“Perfect hotel with a beautiful atmosphere”

Miraloma on the Cove

This is the most perfect place to stay on all of Vancouver Island. Our room was amazing, including grantite counters, heated slate floors, huge soaker tub, 2 fire places, and a view of not only the garden, but also the harbour, and the ocean. (If you are ever here, ask for room 309, best view in all the hotel) The room has all that you need ranging from a little kitchen (no stove) with all you need, to games and puzzles in the room. The fitness room and sauna are some of the nicest I've seen in a long time, especially considering the size of the hotel. You get underground parking and the whole hotel is immaculately kept up with everything in beautiful condition. The cookies and hot chocolate are a wonderful way to end the evening, and their breakfast in the morning is minimal, but lots of choices to have and everything is really fresh. The little resturant next to it is worth going to at least once, if not every day for dinner, it was amazing food and the owner Luigi is wonderful and makes sure that everything is perfect. The building itself is worth talking a look at too.
The bikes that are for guests are the perfect way to see the town, which has some of the friendliest people ever, ranging from the owner at the Big Moo Ice Cream Shop, to the owner of the Star cinema, they all make you feel like a local, and this is a beautiful town where they take pride in making people smile.
The staff at the Miraloma is one of their best assets as well, where nothing is too much to ask, and they don't skimp on anything, including the amazing shampoo and condition (they gladly gave us some to take home). They will help you with anything you need, and it's so close to Victoria that you get the best of all worlds. It's a perfect choice for any type of trip, and made our honeymoon the most amazing getaway we could ask for!

“Home comforts make this special”

Miraloma on the Cove

As other reviewers has said, this is a lovely hotel. It is probably more suitable to couples rather than singles or families.

The owners clearly take great pride in their hotel. - and rightly so! The gardens are beautifully maintained and inside the main hall and downstairs lounge area traditional-style furniture is featured. This is also where the continental breakfast is served each mornng.

Our room - a batchelor garden view room - was well appointed with a kitchette and a good sized balcony overlooking the gardens. The bathroom featured a walk-in shower so presumably would be suitable for a disabled person.

There is a free underground car park for guests although I guess that the crime rate is very low in this area.

What really makes this hotel special are the personal touches - the friendliness of the reception staff, the cookies and hot chocolate in the evening, even a teddy bear on the bed.

Sidney itself is a small and quaint town - population around 11,000. The town centre, which featues several restaurants as well as a number of bookshops - more per head of population than anywhere else in Canada apparently - is about a 25 minute walk away.

The BC Ferries terminal at Swartz Bay is a five minute drive away (tip - it is worth booking this in advance as we almost did not make our ferry despite being there two hours beforehand) with Victoria about 12 miles/20k away. This can be reached by the main highway or by the more scenic coastal route.

“Miraloma is gorgeous”

Boutique style B&B...very quiet and right next to the water. The service was excellent; friendly, courteous, and warm. Our room was gorgeous with a beautiful bathtub for two and a walk in shower. We stayed in a King Garden View room, the ocen view room were sold out. The price is reasonable, for what you get. Full kitchen, free fresh baked cookies, complimentary continental breakfast, newspapers, etc. I recommend Miraloma, and will be back to stay there again, and again.

“My Favorite Vacation”

Miraloma on the Cove

We stayed in a bachelor harbour view suite. What an amazing treat! The rooms were very clean, cozy and absolutely beautiful. Fabulous view of a little cove/inlet from the rooms on a very quiet secluded street. Huge, comfy king size bed, pull out sofa bed, fireplace, mini fridge, fully stocked kitchen cupboards, beautiful tiled bathroom with seperate jetted tub and large shower. There was even a heat lamp to keep the bathroom warm! The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The lobby felt like you were in someone's home. Cozy couches, large fireplace, board games - they even served delicious cookies and hot chocolate at bedtime! The front desk has a board game/video library that you can borrow from. The price we paid for this hotel was phenomenal. It is in Sidney so it is a bit of a drive if you are wanting to do the tourist stuff in Victoria, but there are beautiful beaches and walking trails nearby, it is a very short drive from the ferry. There are lots of really nice shops and restaurants to be found in Sidney also. Be sure to check out the Thai food place! Wow! The hotel also has a hot tub, is close to Butchart Gardens and will lend you bicycles to peddle the town. Absolutely fabulous. My husband and I both feel that this hotel was the jumping point for one of the best vacations of our lives!

“Fantastic hotel”

Miraloma on the Cove

Sep 14, 2007

Miraloma on the Cove completely lived up to the reviews and more. It is a really well appointed hotel in a beautiful location, it exceeded my expectations. Views of the sea were wonderful and sitting on the balcony smelling the sea air was a great holiday moment. I would recommend this hotel without reservation, the only thing 'missing' is a restaurant and Sidney is a town seemingly full of good restaurants so this is easily addressed. The Blue Peter on the marina is a good pub and worthy of a visit.

I would definitely return here.
