“Beautiful B&B”

Le Grenier des Cousins

May 13, 2008

My husband and I recently stayed at this lovely B&B in Tremblant. We stayed in the Riviera room on the second floor which was beautiful, overlooking the river and the garden. We went there for a romantic weekend, and with the heated pool and the whirlpool it was fabulous. The Innkeepers Caroline and Steve were very nice and the gormet and elegant multi course breakfast is one of their best-kept secrets! They were helpful and friendly and recommend us a very nice restaurant for dinner the Trattoria Di Lago located on a lake and serving fine Italian cuisine wich I also recommend to everyone.

We recommend it to everyone and would certainly return there next time we're in Tremblant!

“Lovely But Strange . . .”

Le Grenier des Cousins

Nov 22, 2007

This inn is very clean and convenient. The house is nicely decorated, the breakfasts are gormet and the pool/hot tub are really nice. But there were some negatives.

The location is great between the Village and the resort but the inn is very close to the road and you can hear traffic all night.

There are some strange "rules". For example, the innkeepers instruct you to take your shoes off in the entry way and you cannot wear shoes at any time in the house. Although I do this at home and understand the need for this in a snowy/muddy climate, I found it a strange request at an inn. I also asked for a towel when heading to the pool and the innkeeper said to use one from the room. We had two frayed towels in the room for the three days we stayed there and with the pool being treated with saline, I didn't really want to be drying off with salty towels after showering all week. The innkeeper seemed irritated that we would want one pool towel for the both of us.
Strange.

The most irritating part of the trip was the fact that although breakfast is elegant there is no choice or buffet option. We do not like to eat a huge breakfast but just wanted to have juice, coffee, and a pastry or something. But the innkeepers, busy preparing each item and pouring each beverage for all the guests kept us at breakfast
for over an hour (we didn't even get coffee or juice for at least 15 minutes). Things would have run much smoother if they allowed guests to help themselves to coffee/juice and maybe some simpler breakfast options as not everyone is going to be interested in their multi-course breakfast. I felt bad that they were working so hard and spending so much time on food I didn't want. It was a true waste of everyone's time.

One final thing that bothered me (as an animal lover) is that the inkeepers had a beautiful, sweet dog that they kept outside in a dirt pit on a heavy chain all day until they left at night around 10 p.m. This sad scene, combined with all the other strict rules and unhospitable policies made me uncomfortable and wish we had stayed elsewhere.
