“Charming... but a little work required to get it just so”

Whilst attending a conference at Calcot Manor, which is nearby, I stopped over at Bibury Court. On the whole, I liked it very much. The atmosphere was just so and the location was fabulous. Food also very good.

Having said that, and as others have commented, the interiors are getting to be a bit faded, the last substantial decorative work was probably last done here too long ago and this needs to be looked at. Our room (no. 9) was a good example of this; it felt a little Spartan. The rooms are NOT uncomfortable however, just a bit jaded/Hyacinth Bouquet. One of the staff said this was going to be remedied soon, and I look forward to this happening because it lets down an otherwise very pleasurable experience.

But how important is the fissionability of the bedspread any way, for havens sake! Hotels/inns should offer good hospitality in good setting with good service. Bibury does this very well.

I definitely be back, and look forward to seeing progress when I return.

“Magnificent building”

Approaching the hotel by a long gravel drive is very special and so amazing that the outlook is not built on, as son many very old buiildings tend to be. The walk from the hotel via the churchyard and to the village is a must.

Although the rooms are a bit dated, they are charmingly Cotswold and spotlessly clean and I hope they don't ever decide to renovate in the muddy wall and uniform decor mode which is so popular - this would be a crime as the building has such charisma and certainly would lose its inherent personality if it was made over "by numbers".

The only comment I could make is that the room lacked a clock radio (I awoke at 6, unable to see my watch and couldn't then go back to sleep) The shower gels and soaps are also a bit "old hat".

Loved the Hobbs House toast at breakfast and the freshly squeezed orange juice.

Will certainly be going back for a repeat visit, hopefully in the very near future. We must use our wonderful hotels to keep them viable and prevent them falling into the hands of the "makeover mobs".

“Faded Glory, but Glorious”

Our 5th visit. Booked the Sackville Suite which is much bigger than my flat. From the first sound of the graveley drive as we drove in, to the squashy sofas and roaring log fire, we want to live there. We are lucky to dine out alot in London, but the food on all 3 nights, was better than all the London, celebrity chef owned restaurants we have tried.

“Romantic Christmas Break”

Bibury Court Hotel

Dec 23, 2007

We spent one night at the hotel 3 days before Christmas. Setting was stunning. Cold, crisp waether added to the atmosphere. Hotel has real character and our room (19) had a homely feel and excellent views.
The reception is a bit of a disappointment and resembles a pantry. Evening meal was good, but probably not worth £35 per head for a standard 3 courses. cheese board was a £3 supplement and our efforts too buy a wine under £20 were thwarted as the one we ordered 'wasn't available' - the alternative cost £30.
Breakfast in the conservatory was of a very high standard; views from the conservatory were superb. Will return.
