“Pleasant hotel”

Nice hotel, reasonable sized rooms. Short break rates include breakfast for two nights or more

Main staircase is currently undergoing restoration so certain rooms can only be accessed by side stairs. If of limited mobility need to check that a room with lift access is available.

Also if in a room on the front of hotel some noise from teenagers who congregate on park in front of hotel and make a lot of noise particularly on weekend nights.

Hotel restaurant quite pricey, a good alternative is Blanc Brasserie (offshoot of noted chef, Raymond Blanc) with is part of same building but has a separate entrance around the corner

“Must be the best location in Cheltenham”

Mercure Queen's Hotel Cheltenham

Have stayed at the queens twice and the hotel and all staff have been consistantly very good.Checking in was very smooth and room available early.
The hotel is undergoing renovation but it doesnt effect your stay and will be excellent when complete.
The lunch, dinner and breakfast the following morning were very good a little expensive but in my opinion worth the extra.
The car park facilities are a little small but have always found space. The hotel is in the town centre near the shops, bars and restaurants but you dont get the noise.
Great place visiting and plan to return for christmas shopping in december.

“Nice but pricey”

Mercure Queen's Hotel Cheltenham

4 of 5 stars
Perth, Western Australia
Jul 22, 2007

We stayed at the Queen's for 2 nights. The room we had was very nice - much nicer than the one shown on the candid traveller photos on this site.

I don't know how much the room cost because our stay was a gift. However, I can say that all the other charges, such as for drinks at the bar and internet access were outrageous - it seems the hotel is determined to get every last penny out of you before you leave. It's a silly policy because instead of eating and drinking in the hotel we went out for every meal except breakfast (which was included and very good).

There are renovations going on at the hotel at the moment which reduces its charm a little.

Overall, a nice hotel if you're prepared to pay the price it asks.

“Never again!”

We booked a 'superior double 'room for a 2 night stay for 7/8th July through last minute.com.I contacted the hotel directly & explained that we were celebrating a special occasion.I ordered a bottle of champagne for our arrival.
On reaching the hotel,we discovered that we were expected to pay £5 per day for the privledge of using the hotel car park!!
Our 'superior double room 'had dirty marks on the walls, stained throw cushions and a very dirty stained chair. Also,no champagne to be seen!
I returned to reception & asked about the champagne. There was no record of it anywhere.I requested to be moved to an alternative room.Ken,the hotel porter showed me two other rooms and then asked me why I wanted to change rooms when I was only staying 1 night. He then proceeded to take me back to reception via the service lift after commenting that he hoped it would not be too 'dirty' for me! Can I safely assume Ken has never received any customer care training?
On a positive note,we had a lovely meal at the hotel on Sunday night.
When checking out on Monday, the bill had to be altered as they had managed to charge me for the champagne but never succeeded in delivering it.I queried the newspaper charge as it clearly states on the hotel details that newspapers are complimentary. The receptionist explained that it only applied to the Times newspaper.Perhaps I should have been told that on my arrival? I also pointed out that I should have been informed about the car parking charges prior to my arrival.
I am very disappointed with my first and last experience of the Mercure Queens Hotel.

“Superb staff”

Mercure Queen's Hotel Cheltenham

Arrived on Saturday afternoon and received a warm welcome at reception. Our room was very comfortable on the 3rd floor. We had a twin room with mini-bar, hairdryer, tea/coffee, complimentary water, iron, etc. Very well equipped. Bath was a bit small but lovely toiletries and big towels. We had dinner on the Saturday night which was superb and could not be faulted. Service was great and food delicious. We had a good nights sleep but after reading some of the reviews I had said we would go elsewhere for breakfast. As it was early on Sunday morning, we changed our minds and I'm so glad we did! Breakfast was superb and there was such a wide choice of food from the buffet. Also, large glasses of fruit juice and big cafetiere's of coffee. Toast was from a proper loaf of bread, not one of the massed produced square loafs and the kippers and haddock were superb. Food and service could not be faulted. We will definitely be back!
