Stayed sat/sun night for sister's wedding. Had twin, family and double room all of which were excellent. Facilities excellant...tea coffee ironing board hair dryer etc. immaculate rooms...with clean linen bath towels etc every day.
Breakfast.....can't fault it plenty to eat and drink.
Leisure facilities were being refurbished whilst we were there but this didnot impeed on our stay at all.
Staff were all friendly and courteous...even rang asda for us to see if they had any confetti cause we forgot it!!!
There was another wedding at the same time but you wouldn't of thought it...didn't here them and it didn't seem over throught with people......would definately stay there again ......if my sister moved cause she only lives up the road!!!!

“Nice hotel & great food, just a bit expensive”

Best Western Castle Green Hotel Kendal

May 6, 2008

We stayed at the Castle Green Hotel mid March, taking advantage of a £69 half price room offer available during the refurbishment of their fitness and leisure club facilities.

The front of the hotel overlooks the ruins of Kendal Castle, and beyond that the town itself. It’s about 1.5 miles to the centre of town from the hotel. The hotel’s grounds are huge, with ample free car parking.

Our room was very clean and a decent size, with an en suite bathroom. When booking the room we asked for a bath since all the rooms are en suite but some have only showers. We were told that we could choose either a room with a bath or one with a nice view …we decided on a bath, and so got a view of a concrete wall and steep grass bank immediately outside the window (see photo).

As well as fair trade tea and coffee, the complimentaries included hot chocolate, biscuits and even some Kendal mint cake.

The room was very quiet at night, even though there were wedding parties that weekend, and the bed was really comfortable so we got a good night’s sleep. Free WiFi internet connection was available throughout the hotel.

For our evening meal we ate at the Alexander’s Pub, right next door to the hotel, which provides a range of dishes from locally produced ingredients. The food was very tasty and a big step up from standard pub food, so the prices were also higher (but fair for the quality of the food). Drinks were reasonably priced – not way over the top like some hotel bars/pubs.

The hotel’s buffet breakfast was a real high point, with loads of choice and high quality food (no cheap sausages here!).

All the staff were very friendly, helpful and polite throughout our stay.

All in all we were very happy with our stay, but if the room had been full price we would have thought it overly expensive.

“Clean Room/ Friendly and Professional Service”

Best Western Castle Green Hotel Kendal

Leeds in UK
Mar 27, 2008

We stayed at the hotel for one night on the 15th of March 2008. We were a party of 4 and we all thought that the service was very very good. Although there was a wedding taking place at the hotel I asked for a room with a view and they said that would try to accommodate me as further from reception as possible to be quite and away from all the wedding guests. The room was great, quiet with lovely views on the garden. We had to book a restaurant for the evening and the receptionist was extremely helpful with telephone numbers, recommendations and taxi bookings. The location of the hotel is also great overlooking green fields and I am sure that we will visit them again in the near future.

“Faultless service”

Best Western Castle Green Hotel Kendal

5 of 5 stars

Feb 25, 2008

We stayed at this hotel for a weekend break - great value at £69 per room per night (including breakfast). The staff at the hotel provided impeccable service. Every one of them was friendly, helpful and attentive to our needs.
Our room was clean and comfortable with a view over the hotel gardens to the distant hills (just visible through the rain). We had dinner in the hotel restaurant on the first night of our stay. It's not cheap but the food is lovely and it was a nice treat. The buffet breakfast was good quality & plentiful.
One of the reasons for being in Kendal was that I was attending a cookery school. I came back on the Saturday evening with three partly cooked fish dishes and no idea what to do with them. The hotel was more than happy to store them overnight for me and the duty manager personally retrieved them for me the next day.
The hotel is currently undergoing refurbishment but this didn't interfere with our stay. However, the leisure club is closing for 2 months for refurbishment shortly so please be aware of this if you book.
Overall an excellent location for a weekend in the Lakes.

“not so best western”

We weren't supposed to be staying here but after a mix up at our hotel we got transferred here. Looked gorgeous from the outside and had a very impressive entrance and bar/restaurant area. We checked in no problem staff were very pleasant however if we had paid for the room we were given i think we would have definately complained.
It was the size of the double bed that was in there and not much bigger and the bathroom was TINY!
The room itself was nicely decorated and clean so no problems there but we were overlooking the boiler area so not nice view. BE WARNED the walls are extremely thin and being valentines weekend this was not a good thing!!!
We went to the pub in the hotel grounds for dinner which was nice a bit overpriced for the service we got but the food was good. Breakfast was delicious and the service in the actual hotel was faultless.
