“The Wonderful Lodore”

We have just returned from a 2 night booster break at the lodore. We were very impressed from the moment we arrived, helpful efficient Reception staff to check you in and a porter to help with your bags. The hotel is in a beautiful location and we booked a Lake view room (well worth the extra) the room was spacious, plush, modern and very comfortable. The restaurant staff are out of this world and manage to make each guest feel special and pampered they are attentive to your every need. The food is delightful good choice and beautifully presented and very tasty (i wonder if the chef has a wife!!!) all in all a fabulous stay in a fabulous hotel in the beautiful Lake District.

“Did not enjoy it”

We were having quite a nice week, the room was comfortable the weather was kind to us, we did not like the food, but that was our taste, too covered in sauces. The staff were efficient and pleasant and all was well until the weekend. On the Friday evening a large party of wedding guests arrived for a wedding on the Saturday and proceeded to drink and smoke for two whole days and two nights. Because of the smoking ban they were outside in the front of the hotel beneath our room and speaking very loudly so that we got very little sleep for two nights. We met with the duty manager in the middle of the night who could not control them. The bar remained open although the guests were obviously very drunk. They were offensive and threatening to us. We did not expect to find guests like these at a quiet Lake District Hotel. We were offered no recompense except for a couple of free nights at the future date. Needless to say we would not return. There was another wedding the following day (which was not quite so bad) and we were very glad to be leaving the day after that.

“Why Only 3 Stars ??”

Just returned for a great stay at Lodore Falls. This was our 1st visit having previously stayed at a local rival many times...we weren't disappointed.
In short, the staff were welcoming and friendly and the service was impeccable throughout our stay.
The Spa was a new experience for me and one I'd highly recommend for relaxing after a hard week at work. There's also a Gym and small pool too. The Falls themselves are a mere short walk from the rear of the Hotel and are worth the muddy trek needed to reach them.
The rooms were tastefully furnished with Plasma screens and the variety of food was superb with a particular emphasis on locally sourced produce. Evening meals consist of 4 courses with Pheasant, Venison and Seabass options available whilst Breakfast again offers a myriad of choices to set you up for the day.
My only gripes were people rolling in for breakfast in their dressing gowns (I'd have thought Management would have asked them to change as 99% of the other guests managed to make the effort to put clothes on !!) and Twin Beds zipped together to make a King. I understand why Hotels do this as it gives them more flexibilty in accommodating different guests but I personally hate this practice.
All in all though, this is a fantastic Hotel where one can unwind and I look forward to visiting again when hopefully it will have attained a deserved 4th Star.

“Great Hotel, Great Staff, Fab food- just turn down the heating !!”

What a wonderful hotel. The Staff are a credit and made our family get together a real wow. Newly refurbished rooms and lounges are wonderful, staff attentive, General Manager bent over backwards to sort my mother into a room close to the stairs and on the first floor as the lift was undergoing a refurbishment. The food was fantastic. Here's a 3 star hotel achieving a 4 star standard. The only complaint and it's so petty - but the Hotel was roasting. Turn the thermostat down a touch. Thanks to all the team. A great stay.

Have just returned home from our second mid week break at the Ladore this year. Again it was wonderful only better this time as we upgraded to a lake view room, well worth it!! The staff, especially Alec on reception were so helpful. The dining room staff were very efficient and we had no problem either at dining in the evening or at breakfast. Our room was newly refurbished with a very comfortable large bed and the bathroom was immaculate. We will be back in the Spring next year.
