My wife and I have just returned from a few days stay at Applegarth Villa and J R Restaurant in Windermere. We enjoyed our break in such a wonderful hotel. Clean , elegantly furnished and decorated to a high standard. The restaurant menu provides a variety of choice to suit all tastes, very professionaly prepared and served. The hotel is family owned and managed. This is evident in the efficient friendly approach shown by all the in the running of the hotel. A further favourable point is its location near the centre of Windermere and walking distance or a short bus ride to Bowness.

We have just returned from a few days holiday in the Lake District at the Applegarth hotel in Windemere and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is full of charm and very relaxing. We had a double en suite bedroom with a mountain view which was very tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The shower was marvellous, a real treat compared to some of our past experiences. The food in JR's award winning restaurant was exquisite with a menu choice to suit all tastes. The owners Alan & Susan and all the staff were very amiable and friendly. All in all a cracking stay.

We stayed in this hotel at the end of May. We booked a Four poster bedroom with a view it was lovely. The breakfast was great one of the best we've had. We eat in the restaurant one night it was really nice good food. The bar is so relaxing. The only fault I would give this place is there is no lift and the car park is down a slop but I wouldn't let this stop me going there again I throughly enjoyed my stay.

well what can i say well worth the trip to the lakes and to stay in this hotel was the icing on the cake. our rooms overlooked the lake and were spacious and well appointed. the staff very helpful and polite nothing was to much trouble.we had some good banter with them which added to the stay as boring staff are no fun at all.
i would say stay its well worth it
