There were actually a few things that made this particular B&B difficult to stay at. The lady that booked us gave terrible directions and we ended up on the other side of Derry before backtracking to find it. Then we had to go to the other B&B they own and run to pay and get our keys before getting to ours. Hauling our suitcases up 5 flights of stairs was not a picnic, but we tried to keep our game faces on. The rooms were good sized, we were given a double room & a single and the single was much larger than the double. There was also no heat on in the entire place except for one of the bathrooms on the 3rd floor. The girl who ran the place was absent for much of the time that we were there so we could not ask for heat to be turned on. This was very uncomfortable to say the least as we were there in the middle of November. Fortunately there were additional blankets stored in the closets in each of the bedrooms. Towels were hard to find and not thoroughly stocked in either of the bedrooms we occupied. Bathrooms were not en suite and therefore you had other travelers knocking on the door while you tried to navigate the very narrow bathroom for your morning shower. I don't recall what they advertize for internet, but they do charge 2 pounds per hour to use the computer in the house.
Breakfast was pretty nice with the usual Irish fried breakfast and cereals, but nothing special.
Overall, the best that the Mercahnts house had to offer for us was the location as it is really close to the city center of Derry. If you do stay here, ask for a room on a lower floor and make sure to ask for the heat upon arrival. :)
