My husband and I were looking forward to a luxurious stay at this contemporary hotel after a week travelling around Scotland. We were initially given a room in the old building but asked for another room because the sash windows were broken and couldn't be opened. The second room, in the new building, had new windows which could easily be opened but unfortunately overlooked a busy street so had to be closed at night and although double-glazed, were not sealed properly so that it was very noisy. The rooms were uncomfortably hot as there was no air-conditioning. This was mentioned in a previous review which we had disregarded as, after all, this is Glasgow and we did not expect it to be hot at night.
The room and bathroom were nicely decorated but very small and without anything extra, e.g. robes, biscuits with the tea tray etc. Also, the bed was accessorised with wool cushions and a blanket which were musty and aggravated my asthma.
Having stayed in a fantastic hotel in Inverness (the Rocpool Reserve) and having had great expectations of the Malmaison chain, I was very disappointed and won't stay in one of their hotels again.
