I can highly recommend this guest house. The proprieter, Helen, is very welcoming and helpful. The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. The breakfast was superb. Couldn't have been better!!

Sunnyside Bed and Breakfast

May 20, 2008

My fiancé and I stayed at Sunnyside, over May Day weekend. The name of this establishment is particularly appropriate, because the weather was amazingly clement, matched only by the disposition of our hosts, John and Helen. Our ground-floor room was tastefully and contemporarily appointed, very clean and comfortable. The shower was unusually spacious (in my experience) for guest house-style accommodation. The touch-sensitive lights were a nice touch, too. There is a very good system of communicating one's breakfast choices, by selecting from the expansive choices on a proforma, and handing them to Helen before going to bed. Of the breakfasts: blimey! As much as you like/need, served with the VERY seldom experienced, correct balance of morning cheeriness and professional detachment. Very good quality ingredients. On our second morning, I went for the smoked salmon and scrambled egg, as well as the full Scottish spread. It was a challenge, and it was fantastic, and it was many a long hour before I needed to eat anything else. One very important thing to note: some guests who were staying for a wedding, were let down in the early hours by their taxi. After chancing a 04:30 emergency phone call to Sunnyside, Helen made the amazing gesture of going to get them herself. We were little less than stunned by her generosity of spirit. This guest house deserves your custom; it will certainly get ours again.
