“Reasonable Effort”

Cassidys Hotel

3 of 5 stars
Aberdeenshire
Apr 25, 2008

Hopefully i'm not being too harsh with my rating of average.
I booked the hotel after having viewed the website (photographer must have been good) and read trip advisor.
The double rooms we had were clean and tidy, fresh towels each day. The reception staff were helpful, organised taxis and allowed us to keep our room until after lunchtime on day of departure.
The breakfast was okay although i think it would benefit from someone taking control of the breakfast room to make sure there is enough hot food on the buffet. The good thing about breakfast is it is open from 7.30-11.00 am.
The bar area seats could do with a good clean.
Alcoholic drinks cost a fortune in the centre of Dublin so don't be alarmed by the prices you are charged in the hotel, this is standard.
All in all a good stay and would recommend Cassidys but i was expecting an above average hotel if the website is anyhting to go by.

“pleasant stay”

Cassidys Hotel

Apr 21, 2008

I read the reviews on this hotel before we booked and found that they were pretty accurate. Check in was friendly and efficient and the room was warm, comfortable and clean. We found the service to be good and the staff were very helpful. I was surprised though by some of the recent reviews that I have seen since our return. One said it was in a "seedy area" how seedy is O'Connell Street? You can't get much more central than that. We found the hotel to be very quiet in spite of it's very convenient location. We had a room at the back so the views weren't great, but we didn't go to Dublin to look out of the hotel window.
We didn't have an evening meal at the hotel but prices looked to be similar to other places that we ate. We had a couple of drinks in the bar and found the prices very competitive (I can't say "cheap" because Dublin isn't, especially with the current exchange rate.)
Breakfast was very good with a good choice on the self service menu. We were a little disappointed that the cooked breakfast was not as hot as we would have liked. The dining room was a bit busy and chaotic too, on one morning we had our cereal and went to get a cooked breakfast. When we returned our table had been cleared and was being re-set. Many other tables needed clearing though.
Overall we had an enjoyable stay at Cassidys Hotel and would use it again for future visits to Dublin. It was conveniently situated for all our excursions and the airport coach drop off/pick up point was very handy too.

“Satisfactory Stay”

Cassidys Hotel

3 of 5 stars
north carolina
Apr 14, 2008

We stayed here for three nights in April 08. This hotel was satisfactory, clean and all and all OK. Probably the least favorite hotel of a two week trip to england and ireland. The location althought close to the city is getting towards the bad part of town. One block in the wrong direction from the hotel and you are in the seedy neighborhood. Having said that we never felt in danger in our surroundings just aware of them. First room we were assigned was about 80 degrees.... The pipe to the radiator was very warm. When the staff checked it out they said the radiator was off and there was nothing they could do. We had to complain a little and were moved to a room where the heat was not stuck on. However had some additional trouble getting this heat to come on. The staff was overall helpful and the breakfast was satisfactory and includeded in a rate of about 160 per night. If I were to go back to Dublin I would probably try to find and alternative location closer to St. Stephens green or temple bar area. However for the price this hotel was OK.

“Great location, very friendly”

Cassidys Hotel

Scotland
Apr 8, 2008

Just back from the Cassidy's hotel. 4 of us over for the weekend and found this to be perfectly positioned for the city. Lovely clean rooms and excellent hearty breakfast. Were situated on the ground floor so it could get a bit noisy with people coming/going - especially the cleaning staff early in the morning but nothing to complain about.

Would go back in a heartbeat, and we're normally all fussy beggars :-)

“Bit Grubby”

Cassidys Hotel

Mar 27, 2008
0/1 found this review helpful

The Hotel was in a great location and the staff were helpful and friendly.

However, I found our bathroom to be quite grubby. There were hairs all over the floor, dirt on the bath panel and I had to clean previous guests faeces off the toilet seat!! The shower head was also held on with what appeared to be a plastic hair band and the toilet flush handle was loose and hanging off the wall. If they upped the standard of cleanliness this would be a really nice little hotel.
