I read the reviews on this hotel before we booked and found that they were pretty accurate. Check in was friendly and efficient and the room was warm, comfortable and clean. We found the service to be good and the staff were very helpful. I was surprised though by some of the recent reviews that I have seen since our return. One said it was in a "seedy area" how seedy is O'Connell Street? You can't get much more central than that. We found the hotel to be very quiet in spite of it's very convenient location. We had a room at the back so the views weren't great, but we didn't go to Dublin to look out of the hotel window.
We didn't have an evening meal at the hotel but prices looked to be similar to other places that we ate. We had a couple of drinks in the bar and found the prices very competitive (I can't say "cheap" because Dublin isn't, especially with the current exchange rate.)
Breakfast was very good with a good choice on the self service menu. We were a little disappointed that the cooked breakfast was not as hot as we would have liked. The dining room was a bit busy and chaotic too, on one morning we had our cereal and went to get a cooked breakfast. When we returned our table had been cleared and was being re-set. Many other tables needed clearing though.
Overall we had an enjoyable stay at Cassidys Hotel and would use it again for future visits to Dublin. It was conveniently situated for all our excursions and the airport coach drop off/pick up point was very handy too.
